Journeyed to see my mum after her operation she had a week ago. I dislike going in the car and that is awful for me with anxiety. When i got there its just us and hubby, she talks none stop about herself as usual for 30 mins and doesnt ask me anything and i can’t get a word in anyways. Then her friend shows up from the church and im completely invisible. The two of them chat none stop i might as well not be there?
In the end i left with hubby driving me home safe and sound. I dont like being around anyone other than hubby it makes me uncomfortable and i have little to say, im a very quiet person all my thoughts are internal and im not much of a talker its easier for me to write things down. Even on the phone im quiet. Mum doesnt seem to make any effort with me she must know what im like?
Feeling invisible stings, especially when it’s your mom. I used to be invisible too, but now I jump in and speak up without being asked questions in order to not be invisible. I interrupt to be honest but then once I’m talking my family hears me and I end up being “seen”, being part of the conversation. Try jumping in. Once you start talking your mom and others may want to hear what you have to say
I think its anxiety making me unable to speak to other people and i can’t think of anything to say , when i do think of something its a struggle to get my words out. Im like this with everyone except hubby. Even hubby makes me anxious if he’s too chatty
I’m the same; I have trouble being around people. I thought my mom was part of a God cult and that she never dies. Newsflash none of that is true. I get delusions around everyone, they come and go.
I did growing up. My first job I never spoke to anyone. Mind would just be blank and never knew what to say. I fixed it by forcing myself to talk, keeping up to date on events and culture, and now I can talk for hours. Not everyone would listen but just keep trying.
my wife says I never talk to her…I guess it’s partially true…I can never think of anything to say so it ends up my wife doing all the talking…I listen…that’s what I do.
