Has anyone tried Farxiga or Ozempic?

Due to CKD and prediabetes, the doctor wants to put me on one of these meds. He said the insurance company may not cover Ozempic due to cost. Has anyone tried either Farxiga or Ozempic? What were the results, side effects, etc.

No,I didn’t try

In France I don’t think it’s common, they usually do a surgery that cut the stomach and because you can’t eat much you lose weight (after a while the stomach has a normal size again)

Hi @Sunshine

I was on Ozempic

I lost some weight and had minor stomach disturbances like some diarrhea and constipation in the beginning but then it was fine

Ozempic controlled my high blood glucose levels

Did a good job

I’m on Wegovy. It’s the same exact drug as Ozempic but under a different name. I am on it for weight loss. Ive been on it 7.5 weeks and won’t reach max dose until week 12.

Basically it helps me lose weight by making me feel sick whenever i eat, and suppressing my appetite altogether. I heard it’s supposed to make you feel full sooner but for me it’s not full, it’s sick. Like my stomach hurts.

I’ve gotten used to it but I’m no longer surprised to find some people quit the drug due to the constant flu like symptoms. I have lost ten pounds so far.

I’ve read only 40% of people who take it feel sick though.

The reason I stay on it is that my weight made me pre diabetic and i would rather suffer for a year to lose forty pounds than become a full blown diabetic.

I started ozempic about 4 years ago. I was pretty nauseous and very tired for about 6 months. Other than that it’s been a miracle drug for me. My a1c was over 12 and it went down to 5.4.

I also lost about 26 lbs. That was starting to watch WHAT I ate and not eating a lot of junk, but the ozempic really decreased my appetite. Good luck!

The sheet paper and my dr said that you must wait at least two to four months before Forxiga shows results. It eliminates 300 of kcal a day through kidneys .. (60-70 grams of sugar)

Thanks for the update @Milk I hope it works for you. It looks like I’ll be on it soon. The insurance company denied Ozempic. I can appeal, but don’t know if I want to expend the time and energy.

Oh well! At least you tried. I’ve only been on it for a week. I can feel a difference.

I take ozempic along with insulin and pioglitazone. So far it’s keeping my blood sugar in the 90s.
