I got a blood test done today. My doctor is checking my thyroid. Has anyone ever had thyroid issues? What symptoms?

One of my aunts had thryoid issues. I think it made her gain weight and hard to lose it.

I think thats from an under-active thyroid. Im thinking mine might be over-active cause I heard it can cause heart palpitations, which I get daily.

I had some kind of thyroid issue at one time, can’t remember what it was, but a thyroid specialist did try to reach out to me after I had some imaging done at nuclear medicine, but I was busy going psychotic at the time so I never went to appointments, but it seems to have resolved on its own as my bloodwork has been fine in terms of thyroid for over a decade.

Yes, hypothyroidism causes sluggishness and weight gain but an overactive thyroid, hyperthyroidism causes anxiety and heart palpitations @TheCanuk

I’ve had Hashimotos thyroiditis when I was 15…lithium caused my immune system to attack my thyroid and it quit making thyroid hormone…so I’ve been on Synthroid almost 40 years. Low thyroid hormone looks a lot like depression…you should get your TSH levels checked.

I have this Hashimotos thyroiditis either. I guess it’s from Amisulpride which I took for nearly ten years.

There are quite a few issues that can cause palpitations. I have them everyday but I don’t worry about them. I just ignore them.

In regards to my thyroid, my T3 is low, but my T4 is normal so I’m not being treated. Low thyroid does run in my family. My thyroid has never been overactive
