I don’t understand why I have to have Iron Infusions they don’t help me much or I feel the same as when I didn’t have them. I gained like 7 pounds after having an Iron Infusion and I have my last one December the 16th and afraid to gain more weight I can’t afford any more weight gain I read you lose the weight in several weeks after the Iron Infusion and its most likely water retention and not actual weight gain still it’s frustrating for me when I am trying to lose weight and stay healthy right now I feel bloated which I probably am. The Doctor says I have to have Iron Infusions to bring my numbers up. I think I don’t since they’re not helping me feel any better what does everyone else think feel like I am being cornered to do what I don’t think is necessary. But I guess I will continue to get them because it’s what the Doctor wants. I explained to my Doctor I feel the same after the Iron Infusion did me no good to tell him my thoughts if he was going to order it anyway. Just frustrated right now with having side effects from the infusion don’t think it was worth the aggravation is all.
Welcome @PsychWard101!
Thanks @Wave
Sometimes we can be iron deficient and not show any outward signs of it. And iron infusions might not change how we feel.
I would take your Drs advice and continue the treatments.
However, it could take a long time to get your numbers up, unfortunately.
@PsychWard101 my father had to have two iron infusions recently.
I agree with @Vinegar’s advice
It may take a while to notice any results
I know I have to have them but don’t see any changes as of yet as far as more energy I wish I would have more energy from getting Iron Infusions maybe over time I will I just started really getting them this maybe my fourth one including the big bag of Iron I had Last year it drops slow mine when I first started was at 13 percent Iron Saturation in my blood right now when I started getting my iron infusions recently I was at 19 percent Iron Saturation but my Iron levels were in the normal range go figure it’s always my Iron sat that is low if not both Iron levels and saturation are pretty low at times too. I don’t like getting infusions but will continue per doctors orders anyhow and maybe I will feel better over a period of time hopefully and not so tired all the time.
Hopefully you’ll have more energy soon.
Just had my last infusion today took close to 2 hours to complete glad it’s over and it went well despite not liking it hopefully will feel better and overall have more energy once the Iron gets in my system
I was given iron supplements because iron low but they gave me stomach ache? I havent had iron checked since so still prob low idk
@Ducky , can you tolerate eating liver? It’s super high in iron but usually doesn’t upset your stomach
@PsychWard101 it may takes weeks for you to notice a difference. I hope you feel better soon
I couldnt eat liver but i will eat more cereal with added iron, and sprouts i think. Will go back on gentle iron supplements. Low iron causes hair loss, dizziness, palpitations and breathlessness. Women are more prone to low iron because of periods i just read @Lillyofthevalley @PsychWard101
I can’t stomach liver either. I’ve read liquid iron supplements are easier on the stomach than pills.
Good to know. I have problems with iron as well. I tried taking iron supplements once but they were way to strong and I think I started getting the opposite condition hemochromatosis I think it’s called.
You could always try children’s chewables with iron if you are just a tad low @POET
Red meat is high in iron
I get my iron from eating nails for breakfast, without any milk.
Thanks for the info! I actually used to take women’s vitamins cause they have more iron lol
thanks @Lilyofthevalley
My periods are irregular they have been irregular for some time sometimes they are closer to normal but never like they used to be once I bled for two weeks before it actually stopped. I am on my period now on the 6th day I hope it lasts one more day and is over with. But you could be right about women being prone to low iron because of periods. I wish my periods would just stop and not be all crazy and messed up but it is what it is. I can’t stomach Iron Pills so therefore have to get Iron Infusions. The Iron Pills give me cramps the Infusions did too at first but now I am fine except gaining some weight which is likely fluid retention and not actual weight gain that I will lose in a few weeks I read online.
Yes i understand and it is tough work taking iron because of side effects, stomach ache. The pharamacist told me to buy Gentle Iron , and take those for a few months, so ive started taking those again now. I hope you feel better soon @PsychWard101
I will ask for blood test in Feb because taking too much iron is very harmful
