Ugh you guys I am so mad and scared. I saw a new dentist today for a second opinion since my other dentist was gaslighting me saying “Oh your tooth is fine” and “It’s just sensitive”. Meanwhile it’s gotten worse and worse.
My lower left molar hurts with cold, like really really bad hurt with cold. It hurts with hot and it hurts to bite or chew on that side.
New dentist today took an x-ray and told me I have irreversible pulpitis meaning I need a root canal and crown.
Thankfully my new dental insurance kicks in soon but I could still owe $500-800 of the RTC and crown. Possibly more.
But it’s nice going to a dentist who I know outside of his profession. He’s a really nice guy. He did my exam and x-rays today for free.
A root canal used to be really uncomfortable, a little painful and take awhile just 20 years ago. But nowadays, it can be mostly painless and fast. I had one about 8 months ago and it took less than 25 minutes and wasn’t too bad. I had one done on an upper back tooth about a year and a half ago and it didn’t even need a crown so I saved money there.
Sorry youre not seeming to get a break and problems and expenses are coming at you one after another. Life can be a gauntlet like that sometimes. The tooth pain you got to do something about, so its a necessary expense unfortunately. Sounds like you found a great dentist tho even tho the other one seems to be a dick.
