It seems the worst part of the insomnia I was having is over, for the last few days I have fallen asleep after not very long, but only slept for 2-3 hours. Fortunately, I don’t feel tired because this insomnia seems to reduce my mental need for sleep / does not produce overwhelming tiredness or sleepiness unless awake for a very long time. However, I doubt feeling ok reflects my body and mind being in an actually rested and restored state.

As the insomnia seemed to subside, OCD anger and agitation, returned along with the esophageal symptoms that I had brief relief from. The esophageal problem is more like GERD now than the kind of tic that it was, although it is still sometimes that too. I am having acid reflux now that seems to have caused an annoying cough which is quite persistent. I think the zapaclone, or whatever its called, has caused reflux to occur whereas before there was no acid really.

I remember when I was having the severe panic attacks last March my OCD symptoms went into remission for the whole month. The panic attacks usually started at night or when falling asleep. Again they went into remission with the insomnia/ sleeplessness. Makes me wonder how sleep, agitation, and anxiety are connected or if it is just coincidences.

I had trouble going to sleep for awhile. I wanted to stay awake I saw sleep as a symbolic death. This gave me anxiety. I wanted to be awake to live life to the fullest. I wanted to hear what the voices had to say and they speak more at night. I liked being awake at night it was peaceful the world is sleeping and I have all the time for myself. 3 hours of sleep a day is something. It’s do able. I went through phases where I wanted to taste life so much that I didn’t have time for sleep. I went years where I wanted to know more I wanted to experience more. Now my dreams are so vivid and real that I go on adventures in my dreams that seem more real than reality. I see, touch, and feel in my dreams. A lot of times they’re like nightmare matrixes but I enjoy the novelty of them. Glad you’re hanging in there. I mean the conditions arent ideal, that damn esophagus. My mom has a similar problem with feeling something is always in her throat and she gets acid reflux but her OCD is way worse than those things now her kidneys are bad and everything is about the kidney diet and keeping potassium as low as possible. Keep doing your sleep routines. Good things.

Glad you’re getting some sleep @Schizbro . I hope you start getting more. I used to suffer from insomnia. That was rough. Now, I take something for it, and my sleep has improved.

I had insomnia a while back and my primary care physician gave me a med called Belsomra that reduces the effects of the hormone orexin…it’s a controlled substance and my pdoc won’t prescribe it, but my physical doc was okay with it. It’s improved my ability to fall asleep and stay asleep. You might try asking your doc for a trial of it.

Thanks for the heads up, but I think Im gonna be ok. It will take time to get back sleep duration but I am falling asleep for a couple hours quite easily now… I should be ok if I keep my stress and activity level low.
