The teacher I follow says the art of happiness is the art of suffering well. For years I thought I knew what it meant but it’s only recently that things have been calm and stable enough for me to practice suffering well.
Today was a good day but I feel sad due to a few things that happened later in the day. On top of those events I got literally nothing done and I feel a bit lazy . Anyways ..with how my brain is …I feel these emotions really strongly. But the thing is …if you don’t push it away and you actually embrace the challenge of feeling negative feelings they lesson and become easier to deal with. This is what the teacher taught me and it works under mild conditions …
Wishing to be happier is important…but Im staring to see that being able to handle and embrace suffering is actually important like the teacher said. Transformation not suppression!!!
How we suffer is as important as seeking happy. The way I understood it was that because suffering is inevitable we have to learn the best ways to handle it so it’s not overwhelming and debilitating.
Mindfulness and transformation is better than autopilot and suppression/running from suffering
I don’t know if it would work with deep deep suffering but I’ve got it working with small suffering. The thing the guy teaches is that when you aren’t mindful suffering seems much bigger than it actually is.
I’ve experienced that in my real life. Some of the things I thought were soo big and important seems from a healthy perspective are tiny troubles man…
I don’t believe in mindfulness, I looked it up and I compared it to my psychological profile and it said that I should stay the way I am if I feel that it’s right. And I do.
