I had a junk Acer laptop with Windows Vista bought in 2007 for around $1500.
I had a Windows XP machine with 300 megs of RAM. Dual booted with Ubuntu 9 something.
My first computer was a quadra 605 by Apple. It was dope at the time. It wasnât top of the line but it was a good computer for the time.
I had a game for it called Legends of Kyrandia that was totally sick

Nintendo 64, played super Mario + 3, duck hunt etc
Idk but I remember using computers that had windows NT loool
The first computer our family had was a Windows 98 machine. It was exactly 1998 when we got it. It was so cool. The computers in my elementary school had Windows 3.1 on them. Our principal said that computers wonât get very popular and that there is no reason to teach computer stuff to children. This was around 1995. Luckily our class teacher was very modern and he wanted to teach us computer stuff. He insisted on keeping our computer class in the school and that kids must learn to use computers.
In our computer class there was one machine connected to the internet. To me internet seemed very boring and meaningless, I remember thinking that I wonât be using internet much. Now thinking about this makes me laugh, little did I know how important internet will getâŚ
Mine was built out of a box of scraps
I had Amstrad NC100. Didnât do much with it, as II wasnât into playing games then. I didnât get online till the autumn of 1996.
My school was very progressive about using computers and they had all apples. We used hypercard a lot and I made a game called âthe search for the Golden Udderâ
It was pretty epic
Thatâs great, we had a computer class in the school but we used computers mainly to play teaching games, like mathematics games. Only later we used computers to other things. But I got really into computers and programming, I used a program called ToolBook to create a book of my favourite animal, Genet. Then I started HTML coding with my home computer in the end of 90âs. I went to first class in school in 1994. It is crazy how different the world is for kids today. Everything is digital. And I thought internet is a boring useless things!
The 90âs here in Finland were hard times, there was a big depression and many people lost their jobs and people were poor. So schools had to save somewhere, and teaching computers was one thing where they could save in. Luckily things improved but the depression is still seen in my generation of people, it affected our parents and families.
Iâm sorry you lived through that but itâs really interesting. Actually to know. I didnât know Finland was going through rough times in the '90s
I was poor but managed to get a hold of a playstation 1 and a few games when I was 15 I think, my first desktop was a rip off, I was sold a really crap computer and I hardly used it for the first 2 years from 1999, it had dial up.
Yeah it seems that thereâs bad times ahead again here. The unemployment rates in Finland are highest in europe. Many people struggle with living.
In the 90âs my parents didnât lose their jobs but we had to move across the country, because my parents got a job in the south of Finland. I was a child in the 90âs, so my generation was affected pretty hard by the depression.
A SEGA mega drive computer.
I suppose a Sega Master System. But an actual computer? I had an Amiga-1500.
