# You Guys This is Really Becoming a Problem

I’m starting to wonder if I even have schizoaffective and was misdiagnosed. The only time I’m in psychosis is around my period. When I went to the psych ward for delusions I was on my period then felt better after my period came on in the psych ward and only had an episode because I was on too much medication. When I stopped taking the medication I was fine. When I got out of the psych ward, they said they didn’t know what it was I had when I was reading through my discharge papers. Well I quit my job again and blocked all my cousins and it happened one to two weeks out from my period. I also had an episode yesterday and my period came on today. I think I’m going to ask my primary care provider for medication for PMDD. Every single time I have my period which is 12 months out of the year I get paranoid. There’s usually a three week period where I’m not paranoid and I realize it always flares up around my next period.

I got diagnosed with PMDD…i used Depo-Provera shots for years to stop my periods and did a lot better. Then I had a total hysterectomy and it was like a blessing. No more psychotic PMS episodes!

Could you work? or did the schizophrenia/schizoaffective still affect that? I’m realizing that every time my period comes on I quit a job or do something drastic.

I haven’t held a long term job since I was 18…I’ve had many hospitalizations since then, but they didn’t involve the drastic self harm I would do before my periods. I still have voices, paranoia, and minor self harm, but not the kind requiring stitches like before my period. So it mostly helped tone things down a bit.

I was a depressed kid also so I know what self harm looks like. It went from cuts to pulling out my hair as I got older. I’m glad you have more clarity now.

I “came out” to them that I was biromantic and I was schizoaffective and I had quit my job and they didn’t say anything. They kind of just sent exclamation points.

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with human connection, but I do agree that sometimes you have to watch what you say because not everybody, even some family, has your best interest at heart. But I’m wondering if it’s my persecutory delusions telling me this or if it’s my actual body warning me of past truths, but even then all truths in the sense of our perception is not fact. and we know this with this illness.

true, but what you said is kinda right. if you feel anxious with opening up try to do it in a safe space. then you dont have those delusions i think. i have that, its hard not to care what people think about you especially family
