3 hours until my instagram deletes

Omg, first week was hard. 2nd week I wanted to get back on. Third week? Things started to change. I am reading more. I leave my phone on the charger and go and do other things like read or watch TV. I’m trying to get into the habit of cleaning like my therapist says. I actually went walking twice today. Tried out new restaurant and went out to eat at an old restaurant and sat and ate with my sister. I’m hoping getting off of social media for a year will be the cure to my quitting jobs. Idk though. I don’t feel the need to compare as much. Around the third week on that Friday. I started to feel the pull less and that hum of “am I doing enough?” started to leave me. It still comes and goes but it’s not as prevalent. So now I’m starting the countdown til 12. I’m still on YouTube and Pinterest but the difference is I do not post for validation. Just for myself.

Well done. I have no social media either. Trying to keep my online time less than 2hrs daily which has been successful, especially the last year or so.

To be honest social media bores the heck out of me. There are better things for me to do.

I hate the validation aspect of social media.

I waste lots of time watching and sharing reels wasting my time instead of getting a job

I think for me it was the comparison trap. I was bored but addicted to comparing myself.

Same I think it was part of the reason I couldn’t keep a job. Maybe. We’ll see.

I got hacked on fb and got the control back but decided to burn the account and start again.

Best thing I ever did. Only negative was I dropped a lot of the people I knew overseas and even my step daughter had problems seeing what I was saying so there’s that…but overall great decision.

I spend way less time online these days and used to spend far too much time on social media. I’m out exploring life. Hooked up with the local left and met some really cool people and play cricket with them weekly. Meeting new people in real life. Not dealing with people online is so much more interesting. Replace the internet connections with real people and you’ll be so far ahead of the game!

Trying to do this( replacing internet relationships with real relationships). I’m an introvert by heart so I may join a crochet club or something. I think there’s one at the rec center here. Or join some ladies, and men for tea because we also have a tea house here. Possibilities are endless now.

Yeah it’s the way to go for sure! I’m lucky have a big family and friends but getting out has been hard. A while ago I set up a little group just with my male friends I’ve known since school days and we try to get together at least once a month.

It’s called the Wed Adventure Club and mostly these days we meet on a friday but we’ve moved forward to where there’s events like Casino night ( legendary ) and shrink visits ( lunch in the city ) and the better ones Live bands ( Night out watching Superchunk )

If your in touch with people/ friends from a whiles ago start the process if your able to reconnect. Regular is great and I realise I’m an uber social person but we all can improve and even meet new friends.

Good luck on your journey!
