Anyone stable without antipsychotics?

Closed pending further review.

I don’t want to stop meds anymore, close it if it needs to.

Thanks for closing @sweetpotatopie . This is why I said I dont really like these types of threads. It’s no wonder you’ve got people trying to quit when you get major government officials saying KETO is a cure for sz instead of possible adjunct treatment , that people try to get off them.

People have to make their own decisions if they want to try to get off medications. There is lots of conflicting info out. Some info says AP’s shrink part of brain, some say its just temporary. Some info says certain AP’s protect the brain and causes more damage to go off aps and have new bout of psychosis. Some say psychosis doesnt cause damage its all the meds. Some say somee people can get off APs eventually. My psychiatrist told me last time I was going to go off APs that she had never seen a sz go off medication without having a rebound back into psychosis.

So we all have to make our own decisions. But what I do not like about these threads is that I believe they have a tendency to snowball into more people trying. Even if no one is trying to get others to try, the mere fact that they are going to encourages others. They think “If they are going to try it, maybe I have a chance to make it too”.

It’s seriously understandable why people would want to get off these meds. Whether they damage the brain or protect the brain (or both), there are a ton of other side effects that impact our daily lives we would all rather not have.

My experience has been that every time I quit or reduced too much I eventually, not right away, slipped back into psychosis. The last time I almost lost my life with pills. I ingested quite a bit and did not go to the hospital. I vomited like hell and got most of them up. I think I permanently damaged my stomach, though. I cant vomit anymore and my stomach is tempermental. I had a ringing in my ears for like 2 or 3 days. I’m lucky to still be alive. THIS Is the kind of stuff you risk with unchecked psychosis. Trying to get off medication is not to be taken lightly and should always been done with a doctors supervision and approval.

You not only can lose your sanity but your life.
