We have had a problem with the puppy barking incessently for attention or to play over the last few weeks. The internet, of course is ripe with advice.
- Ignore her for 10 seconds - Ineffective
- Place in a ‘timeout’ in another room - A joke
etc etc
Finally, today, I believe we hit on something that is already starting to show improvement. I believe the key is to ignore her until she stops barking, but then quickly, after a moment of silence begin to show her attention and/or play with her.
I have had many dogs and I have never seen the need for this method before, but really…she will just bark almost constantly to get you to interact with her or get what she wants.
Today is the first day, I have already started to see significant progress on the barking.
It’s really important wwe get this barking under control soon, as one neighbor has a heart problem shes dealing with and the other just had some kind of surgery. SO we cant have her constantly disturbing the neighbors.
Anyway, I think we finally have the correct tools to get it under control.
