Being able to edit posts

One feature I noticed and liked in the parents/caregivers forums is that you’re able to go back and edit a post even a month later, maybe even more. I find this feature helpful because sometimes I misspell words or want to phrase something better but I don’t notice until a day or two later or maybe I want to add some text. I never liked that you only had ten minutes to edit a post on the old forums. Sometimes when I make a reply and answer a post I look back a day later and see I could have said something in a more helpful way and it helps if I can edit it. So I suggest we lengthen the time we have on this site for editing a post.

I understand what you’re saying, but wouldn’t it be more practical to just write a new post if you want to add more context or clarification since you’ll likely have replies to your original post?

I will run this by the other mods and admin and one of us will get back to you.

From what I can see, you can currently edit posts up to a day later, at least.

This value is already set extremely high for t2 users by default.

I guess it’s just easier to amend a post that’s already made. A little easier anyways. I think the editing rule works better on the parents/caregivers forum because you can go days without a new post by anyone so if I re-read a reply I made and want to change or add something a day or two later it’s OK because it has so few views and probably no replies.

In regard to your point, I can see the point but if I make a reply, there’s new people who are going to see it and I want it to be the best post possible with correct spelling and say what I want it to say. Yeah, I could make a new post in that situation but I just never liked the ten minute rule in the first place.

Excellent! I like that rule and I’m sure I’m not the only one.
