I always have loved Stephen Kings books, and the movies based on his books are good too. What are your favorites?
mine are “Misery” and “The Shining.”

“Storm of the century” …
The shining seems a bit dated on the movie. I read the book in my 20’s though and enjoyed it. Honestly, I think misery is the better film of the two.
"THe stand’ was also a good book that I read. Only saw bits of the television version. Looked a little cheaply made from what I could tell.
“The Mist” or “IT”
Pet cemetery and the shining and the bonkers one on plane
watch citizen Kane with all its rave reviews and try to tell me that again
. One of the most boring films ive ever seen.
But I do agree that some films are always great and classics while others lose their luster over the years.
“One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest” is old but still a classic, same for “Jaws,” “A Clockwork Orange,” etc. I still even enjoy the original “King Kong.”
I loved “Citizen Kane!”
I liked “it” and the shining..I read pet semetary and it was way better then the movie.. im reading the shining book right now
Great book. Misery is amazing too, you should read that after The Shining!
I’m sure it was groundbreaking at the time and deserves whatever accolades it gets from that. But as a modern film, Id rather watch paint dry on an exterior wall in 100 degree heat.
I enjoyed Citizen Kane but haven’t seen it in ages. I’m a movie nut, and believe true art is good forever.
Another good old film is “The French Connection.”
some things stand the test of time, but heres an example of what I’m saying : I dont know how old you are but do remember all those 80’s sitcoms? Growing pains, full house, THe facts of life, etc, and on and on I could list them. Those in my age group used to almost all watch them because of the limited options. We enjoyed them at the time but if you go watch them now most of it is a cringe fest with the corny jokes and the laugh tracks.
Anywho…Im just mostly talking to talk. SOme entertainment tv and films age better than other IMO.
I don’t think you hate those shows and films because they are old, but because you just don’t like them lol
I don’t watch much tv except for “South Park,” “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,” “The Simpsons,” and a few other shows, so ai cant give my opinion there.
Another great old film is “The Day the Earth Stood Still.”
Hate is a strong word. I just think they have become outdated and corny.
I never found the shining corny, I found it frightening and intense. The cinematography was absolutely brilliant too. When you watch it with a photographic eye you’ll see how much of a perfectionist Kubrick was.
The Dead Zone
My favorite old timer movie is 12 angry men.
I haven’t seen many of the Stephen King movie adaptions, but I like Misery. The Shining is a good scary movie, but I don’t like to watch scary movies. Life is scary enough as it is ![]()
I never said it was corny…your kind of putting words in my mouth. I just found it to have an outdated feel. IDK what else to tell you. Thats my opinion.
You have the right to your opinion! I’m not debating that lol
