Thanks @Turtle
is culvers a fish shop? ive heard of it before in a food challenge video but never been to one
I think itās a burger place but iāve never seen one physically in either virginia or california
Has anyone on here at one point taken Olanzapine for a long period of time, stopped because you switched APās, and still slept fine without taking Olanzapine any more?
my ex was on olanzapine for a while. She had sleep problems when she stopped. but that was cold turkey not taking another med in place
I think what poet says is right you have to replace it with a different ap thatās what they have done to me
its a good question⦠i do wodner if theres any med that can offset whatever causes the sleep problems with quitting olanzapien cold turkey.,..
Iām not thinking of fully quitting meds, but Iām considering a switch. Iāve tried slowly tapering off Olanzapine like 2 or 3 times over the years Iāve been on it and every time itās like my brain doesnāt know how to fall asleep without the drug in my system. I wish I never started this fuucking drug. Iām a food monster on it.
I bet the only answer to that is benzos to calm you down. However good luck finding someone who will right them anymore.
@POET Culverās is like a burger place but they serve seafood too
damn i hear you man.. ive never taken it so idk what its like but yea ive seen it in action before second hand. i hope you find a different ap you prefer⦠maybe you can ask your doc about meds that are similar to olanzapine but more weight neutral⦠then maybe the transition will be easier yet have less increased appetite. I think each AP has like a class, maybe you can find a list of apās in the same class that acts on the same receptors etc.
oh wow i see⦠i never thought about that yea, they could help with sleep⦠i wonder what the closest, most weight neutral drug to olanzapine is tho hmmmm.. im gonna google it.. maybe chat gpt knows and Canuk can ask his doc about it
lord google says:
Based on clinical research and comparative studies, aripiprazole (Abilify) is often considered the closest alternative to olanzapine in terms of broad efficacy (used for both schizophrenia and bipolar disorder) while causing significantly less appetite increase and weight gain.
Here is a breakdown of options based on your request:
1. Aripiprazole (Abilify) - Top Alternative
-
Why itās close: It is a highly effective antipsychotic (SGA) frequently used as an alternative for schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.
-
Appetite/Weight Profile: Unlike olanzapine, which is associated with high weight gain and increased appetite, aripiprazole is generally considered weight-neutral. In some studies, aripiprazole was associated with lower rates of increased appetite compared to other atypical antipsychotics.
-
Switching: Switching from olanzapine to aripiprazole has been shown to result in weight loss in patients with schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder.

2. Lybalvi (Olanzapine/Samidorphan) - āSameā Drug with Less Weight Gain
-
Why itās close: It is specifically designed to be olanzapine, but with an added medication (samidorphan) that mitigates weight gain.
-
Appetite/Weight Profile: In studies, it demonstrated similar efficacy to olanzapine but caused significantly less weight gain.

3. Other Alternatives
-
Ziprasidone (Geodon) and Lurasidone (Latuda): These are cited as the most weight-neutral antipsychotics with minimal effect on appetite.
-
Cariprazine (Vraylar): Another option with a lower weight gain liability than olanzapine.
Hey Kiddos! ![]()
Today is payday so thatās always nice. I ordered some goodies on Amazon and then I walked to Quick Trip and got their 5 dollar meal that theyāre currently doing. I ate one of the hotdogs and it filled me up really well. I put the other one in the fridge to save for later. I also saved the chips for later.
Hope you all are well.
hey zuma hows it going! Sounds like a nice day. hows the weather there? its 18 degrees and sunny here today. loving it, went out for a spin on my scooter for a while and got some sunshine. was dope! lol its funny im gonna have hotdogs for dinner too and im also waiting on an amazon delivery
Hey Poet! Haha! Weāre hotdog/Amazon twinsies. ![]()
Weather here is nice and warm but the sky is overcast and weāve been having lots of rain lately. Today on my walk I wore a tee shirt and a jean jacket and by the time I got home I was pretty sweaty.
So what did you order on Amazon if you donāt mind me asking? I ordered the Strongās Bible Concordance and a tee shirt that has an alien on it and around the alien it says āTin foil hat club.ā ![]()
cool man how do i join haha or is that this forum? i ordered a belt off amazon. Not really all that important but its a bit annoying waiting checking the tracking constantly lol
so thankful for the good weather tho man, its like the world is coming alive again
Iāve already tried Abilify @POET
it didnt really touch my paranoia and delusions. Olanzapine really helps my mental health, just wish I could stick to a calorie deficit on it. I do good for a while but I seem to always fall back into eating like a maniac.
Haha! The first thing I thought of when I saw the shirt was think of Coast to Coast AM. ![]()
Yeah itās a beautiful feeling to witness Spring getting here isnāt it man? Itās almost like the Earth is being reborn again or something.
lol i had to google that but seems to be a radio station where they talk about paranormal stuff? i guess like alex jones. Hes actually in one of my favourite movies, waking life⦠he has a scene where he goes on a rant about government i think. ill post the clip.
Anyways yes, the weather is a huge blessing. the way i see it is the sun is giving us energy in general which helps alleviate human suffering so im all for it.
