Should I do this?

I’ve…like many of you been afraid of social situations for a very long time. The intrusive thoughts and feeling that people here my thoughts keeps me away from people. I also isolate because of paranoia but the thoughts are what keep me away

I told my therapist that I believed the majority of people I would meet (when going around people) would probably dislike me anyway. I brought this up because I realized that not everyone treats me like crap and I was curious what the outcome of trying to work or talk to more people would be.

Long story short..she said the only way to find out is to make a guess and test if that assumption was true.

Right now I feel more stable than I’ve felt since the sz started. Things are far far aways from perfect or recovered but things are like 20% better than a few years ago

Should I just rest and enjoy that 20% or test the waters and possible find my assumptions are true?

It’s up to you

If you prefer to enjoy the peace you gained it’s your right

But if you would like to go out of your comfort zone to maybe find friends irl it’s Ok to try too

I think you don’t necessarily have to choose between these 2 options,I think you can do both

If you go out of your comfort zone with tiny steps I think it’s possible to come back in your comfort zone any time and enjoy your peace and then try again when you feel comfortable and you can decide any time to stop trying and enjoy your peace if you want to

IDK man I can’t really advise because I, like you I assume, kind of live in my head. I don’t have the same set of symptoms you do related to socializing, but I simply kind of experience in real life stuff as kind of a threat to my sanctum of solace ie. being alone with my thoughts. Only really when I get psychotic do I sometimes kind of become uninhibited about socializing and interacting with others. Usually I’m kind of disinterested.
