The importance of movement as we age, my thoughts

So as I’m getting older, 33 now I have realized a lot from the only thing I ever cared about exercise. It sounds shallow which is why I think I failed at it early on failing so see the deeper meanings in life.

I am not trying to gloat or boast I promise I have just seen now from this how much we can lose while aging if we don’t take care of ourselves.

It’s common knowledge that as we age we can lose strength, mobility and develop a multitude of diseases and conditions like blood pressure issues, diabetes, heart conditions, cognitive issues which has also made me lean towards schizophrenia being an autoimmune disease, basically a complex manifestation of misfiring in our being creating a distortion of reality.

So running for example, driving, working, running pullups even. It all becomes more difficult as we age and I now just believe we have to try hard to work to keeps these abilities. So if I am running, driving, working and stuff there is a progression of experience and getting better at rather than declining.

These things are also challenging and difficult which is why many give up on them. I draw inspiration from biblical figures who had a connection to some greater though I cant delve into that here.

In closing I know it can be difficult with symptoms and medication side effects but we have to keep fighting to maintain and progress our life skills rather than accept defeat.

Age is a non factor. There are 60 years olds who can’t walk and 60 year olds who run 100+ mile marathons. And there are even youths who couldn’t dare do what the more experienced 60 years old can. It’s not aging but the habits we form in the process of.

Sarcopenia happens to every human that ages all the way their geriatric time in life.

I think staying active is more and more important as we age. I’m guilty of not being as active as I should be. I’ve noticed at 49 now, it’s much harder to get back at it in the gym than in my 20s and 30s. So in that way, age does matter. In my opinion, the older you get, the more important staying active is

Yeah true. I know now at 33 if I do go back to the gym life I’ve been wanting if I can maintain that I will be better off in the long run, buts it’s just that.

Where does the differentiation between those who stay consistent and those who don’t stem from? That’s where I attribute it to faith and a deeper meaning which I wish I could talk more about :joy:

TLDRd the ■■■■ out of me. True lol

Personally I stand as still as possible hoping that my wife wont notice me. Usually in the living room after I wake up. It’s hella hard when a fly lands on your nose or something.

lol, no. My wife and I have started walking the dog every other day, so its a start.

Diet, exercise and stress management, as well as sleep are in top 5, a fifth one is probably avoiding existential risks.
