After my second psychotic episode, I’m starting to accept that I’ll probably need medication either for a very long time or for the rest of my life. For the first time in many years, I’m no longer afraid of that.
I understand that medication can increase the risk of diabetes and other health problems, but I can also come to terms with that. Medication helps me maintain insight, awareness, and some sense of stability and success in life.
This illness has messed up a lot of things in my life, but I am still capable. I work, and I’m also planning to rent my own place again.
For the first time, I realize that schizophrenia, whatever form it may take, is a part of me and probably always will be.
Thank you, truly. I’m trying to come to terms with reality, but I’m not going to judge myself either. Just like everyone else on this forum, I didn’t choose this illness. Medication is a part of life, and I can still pursue my dreams and hope for the best, even while taking medication.
So much respect for you @BringMeCoffee I so proud for you. It’s amazing what we can overcome in life. And how fun and enjoyable overcoming can be. Medication helps me realize what amazing things the mind can do. When my mind works for me without being disturbed it figures things out for me and always shows me a way to a completely comfortable and satisfying and fulfilling life.
Lately, I’ve been thinking that even though I’m ill, I’m going to put all my effort into living a good, fulfilling life. I have to do that. I want to live a good life, have a job, and not give up… Thank you for everything, my friend! Sending you warm virtual hugs. @Trooper
That’s exactly what I’m striving for! I want that if, when I’m old, someone knows what I struggled with, they’ll always be able to say that I handled my illness incredibly well and never gave up. @Sunshine
