@Mr.Apple @2Waynez I’ve never tried this as a past time but it seems like an interesting hobby. I’m not sure if it will send me down a rabbit hole. Let me know what you think. I noticed you both like to talk about different topics like academia or philosophy.
I agree that writing an essay is good for learning, especially when writing it out by hand. I don’t think typing has the same exponential effect as writing does. I’ve seen research that handwriting uses all the senses and in turn activates all the brain similar to music instruments.
if there’s a interest or topic you’d like to delve in, reading is a must; but writing will really help you think on the topic. Something about it rehearses your thinking patterns and makes it very flexible when thinking on the given topic; heck, even miscellaneous topics like Mathematics and Economics end up having scientific connections that can help you develop a whole new worldview.
I like writing too. I thought it was a nice hobby. The way he explains it, albeit at times sometimes offensive, it is something to get your thoughts out on paper just for yourself.
I loved it as a boy, but have no reason to do it as an adult. it kinda saddens me because this was why I was so desperate to get into an academic career. the skills of writing, reading and problem solving are really enjoyable to me - reminds me of childhood a lot.
do you have any topics in mind you;d like to learn about? for me it’s mostly physical science stuff academically but i enjoy economics too. idk, i might actually get a pen and some paper just to do essay plans by hand for future, in the event i ever get the opportunity to be an academic
I’ll be honest, i got scared when i saw the 18 minutes, but i know it’s a pro writing video so i made my point off this awareness alone
Now that I deep it, technology has really taken a lot from us. Whilst it has given us convenience and standarisation to some degree. It’s really taken a lot 
I hope I didn’t trigger you. Sometimes youtube can be a triggering place. And Idk what topics just yet. I just like to write. Maybe topics on investing, like financial topics or like diabetes and the different diets they say can help. Something like that.

I like youtube, I watch alot of economic videos on there, it’s good for me.

Also, textbooks!! I love getting a textbook out on maths and then pen to paper the problem over a duration of days. It’s so fun! 
Ooo ok!. When I tutored kids I had to learn long division all over again and do 2 digits by 4 digits on paper. It was really satisfying but we also had to learn how to do it in our heads because the kids were timed. Odd job.
hehe, that sounds like it might have been interesting to interact with the children but i guess a little boring or soul destroying when they didn’t catch on!
i tried to tutor, but no one became a student so it never got anywhere.
