Anyone notice it doesn't matter how

have any of you noticed that when you relapse you are ill no matter what amount of meds you are on? and when you are well, you are well, no matter how low a dose you take?

or am I getting things wrong and you need a high dose to stay well?

I think even on a good dose I still get ill if it’s my time to relapse. the relapses come no matter what meds dose I’m on. and no matter how low my dose is, when I’m well, I stay well till the cycle repeats itself.

anyone?

Yeah, that’s kind of true. When I relapsed the medication didn’t really pull me out of it when I wanted it to, it took awhile. I don’t know if they still do this but when I used to go in the hospitals they would try giving me really high doses to stabilize me. I guess that worked because I was eventually able to be well enough to leave the hospital.

What I do is when I’m ill I take higher dose and when I am well I lower it

Maybe that’s why you’re relapsing, maybe you are lowering it too much.

i disagree. i find the meds have a direct correlation with my mental health. The only thing is there is a delay thats about 2 weeks to a month. The meds dont work right away. They take 2-4 weeks to kick in, so if you dont take them you wont notice til a few weeks. but other than that i find theres a direct connection to taking my meds and how my mental health is

@POET does that apply to everyone taking the meds? or do some people notice any symptoms sooner than two weeks?

Yes. I’m on many meds and injection and still get symptoms.

I noticed that too a bit… my psychosis seems to flare up every few years and while I was on aps a few years ago I was in a subthreshold psychotic state for quite a while until I went off. I was better on meds than I would have been though.

I’m better off on Risperdal

Without Risperdal and Depakote I end up in the hospital

I’m like @Wave, but my meds are Seroquel and Depakote. Life savers, literally.
