What was it like going down a dose?

My doctors appointment is tomorrow and im quite nervous. Im going to ask to go on a lower dose of aripiprazole 10 mg tablets, to see if it helps with my restlessness but also feeling more? I feel like crap all the time, its really hard to keep my head above water. And do things.

For those that went down a dose please do tell about that situation. Any positive symptoms coming through? What dose did you go down to, what antipsychotic, were there any changes of note etc.

Feeling like crap is relatable. I feel a lot better on geodon and caplyta. A treat always brightens my spirits: cupcake or frozen coffee, sounds superficial but it works for me.

I was originally prescribed 400 or 500mg amisulpride but noticed when I relapse I can’t stay on 400 I need at least 500 or 600. When I’m better I’m on 400 again with permission of dr.

I’m also on 5mg haloperidol. I didn’t make changes to that or else I’d relapse worse because if amisulpride so low then I need haloperidol to help with lack of amisulpride. Amisulpride is so expensive!

Thanks for the comments. I guess its a roll of the dice how I wil react. I guess some encouragement is that when I transitioned from paliperidone injections to the aripiprazole tablets, the doctor remarked how because there wasnt any relapse during the change, it showed that the psychosis is very much under control.

Hopefully going down a dose wont do anything

its not easy decreasing doses but for me personally it was a necessity. in order to do my daily duties and survive in the world i cant be overly limited by side effects, if that makes me less compliant than or causes me problems then they oughtta start paying my bills if they care so much. i got denied disability like 5 times so i cant take anything that makes me unable to work efficiently

You should get a lawyer next time you apply

I went from 8mg to 3mg risperidone for a week and was sleeping much less, once I misheard a word. I was on 3mg before for 1-2 years with minimal symptoms did not relapse but recently would hear a voice repeat what I hear or maybe its my internal normal voice idk. My cognition and motivation actually worsened which I thought was the main benefit of lowering the dose. I was off the meds for 2 years and motivation did not improve, cognition worsened a lot.

I wonder if the worsening of motivation and cognition was due to withdrawals but when I was on 3mg for 1-2 years motivation and cognition was worse than now on 8mg. I might drop to 6mg to reduce td risk.

I was on 10-20mg Abilify before for 8 years

I was on 80mg of Geodon twice a day. Now I’m down to 40mg twice a day. When I lowered I felt relief. Less sedation, more mental clarity, more motivation

On 10 mg abilify , used to be on 15mg abilify and couldn’t stop walking…really really wanting to switch to cobenfy since my schizophrenia is mild… hope it comes to singapore soon, it’s criminal that being in a first world country but I don’t get medicine that fast

Well. The last 10 years I went off of 240 mg Ziprasidone. Got my Clopixol depot lowered from 300 mg weekly to 400 mg every 3 weeks. Besides I got lowered from 900 mg Seroquel IR to 300 mg Seroquel XR. I did this with no help from anybody and the final dose was approved by my doctor 2 months ago.
