Some people at fancy restaurants make bank sometimes when I go out to a nice place I’m there 30 some minutes and I’ve tipped $45. Pay people a livable wage. Now they wanna raise the sales tax to 20 percent. Pisses me off.

I Always tip at least 20%. I used to work in food service so I understand the struggle when you make minimum wage.

Tipping culture is entirely based on where you are. Some countries to tip is even considered rude (Japan, China, S Korea).
In the UK there is an expectation that you will pay an extra 10% of your bill in a restaurant. If you really didn’t enjoy your food/service you could not tip but otherwise you should. However that is about the only time you need to tip anyone. Every other time you pay what its priced at.
My only issue with restaurants is when they automatically apply more than 10% to your bill (like 12.5% or 15%). Id rather the prices just be more than they sneakily try to get a for more quid off me at the end of the meal.
In France/Italy, cafes want you to tip. I don’t think that is wholly unreasonable if they actually wait on you etc.
But I will never understand tipping culture in bars in the US. 20% of your bill is expected as a tip? Total madness. They really need to sort out wages for bartenders/waitresses so there wages are enough for them to take home and tips are not automatically expected. Just seems like a lot of scummy managers underpaying their staff normalised it.

Yeah I hate that too, when they add the “service charge” on. You can, however, ask them to remove it.

I dont tip unless im too shy to cause drama in the restaurant wen i say can u please cut out the service charge
Usually only 15% because I can’t really afford it. I’ve never heard of tipping cashier’s at stores. I don’t usually use them though.
I don’t order delivery because i can’t afford to tip
but when eating out at a restaurant i tip between 10 and 20% depending on how good the service was. 15% most often but for great waiters 18 or 20.
I do tip, but I feel tipping is a scam that allows companies to pay their employees substandard wages knowing that the public will subsidize those wages by tipping. The company has the responsibility of paying its workers, not the public.
A better way to incentivize employees is to have an employee stock ownership plan. The more money the company makes, the more money the employees make.

I tip if I get delivery or eat at a sit down restaurant, but I only get delivery if there’s a good doordash or uber eats discount. I’ll tip bartenders too but I don’t drink much anymore. Service industry workers are definitely exploited by the owners in the US. I think some states are worse than others.
I also hate how a lot of stores try and guilt you into donating to a charity when you are checking out now so you can subsidize their tax write off.

I also stopped tipping people when I realized you don’t tip them like you do cows because the police get involved after.

I took an uber today up to the airport. I thought that the driver didn’t want to talk so I didn’t even try to conversate but when he dropped me off at the airport her seemed mad at me and when I tried to tip him $5 he just handed it back. Oh well, that’s the way it goes, no skin off of my nose.
