Double Bookkeeping

Double Bookkeeping (Double Consciousness)

A fascinating phenomenon in psychology is called double bookkeeping. This occurs when a person holds a severe delusion but acts completely normally in accordance with actual reality.

For example, someone may firmly believe they are the Emperor of a fictional country, yet they still quietly line up to collect their disability check, pay their rent, and respect the local landlord. They seamlessly navigate two conflicting realities simultaneously

This is like when I have delusions and I still appear compliant to external reality and requests of life

I have delusions but I don’t think they’re severe but that definition is the story of my life.
