From the top of your head;

-What has been one of your worst experiences with a mental health proffesional?

For me the one that comes to mind (out of two or 3)

Is actually from this year I reported that i was psychotic and required some advice or support to the referral team. I went there for an hour assessment.

I started off by explaining about feeling I am being watched and crying.

Etc.

And then i started laughing sporadically (nervous laughter from the hallucinations plus them doing bizarre stuff) but i was scared to explain what was happening at that moment

The mental health assessor interpreted that as me not taking the assessment seriously instead of asking me are you ok, what is making u laugh she kind of looked annoyed and mentioned something about cutting the assessment time…

My therapist ghosted me after seeing her for three years. She always missed a lot of appointments anyway but then she missed about 4 in a row, came back for a couple and then just stopped calling for good. No warning no explanation.

Thats mental. These nurses have some unusual policies.

It reminds me of wen i tried to escape the hospital. They caught me took me to the ward and literally pinned me down on the bed LOL.

They know how to be harsh like that.

Maybe they have to because they have had many experiences of ppl reacting violently.

So just in case..

Certainly not ideal tho..

Well, not a mental health professional…

But a doctor years back straight up told me I shouldn’t have kids because of my mental illness.

My worst experience with a mental health professional… I told my therapist at the time a traumatic experience that I never told anyone before and she said to me “that wasn’t traumatic”

Like what the heck.

Unprofessional and rude.

Mine was; seeing a certain doctor and then people seemed to want to frame me, for things they did, because someone had morbid intentions.

Yeh that is nonsense what the doctor said.

Sorry to hear that the other person invalidated you they arent u so how can they say that

In a psych unit as a teen I was forced to get a body cavity search done and also told to dance naked for the guards. It was humiliating. I felt so helpless and hopeless. So alone in the world. I wasn’t allowed any contact with the outside word - not even my family/mom etc. no one. It was awful.

I have quite a few nightmare stories about my experiences in psych wards but that was my first experience so it was the worst.

You were not allowed for visitors?

Not for a long time. They said we had to earn privileges like that. I didn’t even have access to my clothes. A guard had to get my clothes for me. And a guard stayed in my room while I “slept” at night. Obviously I didn’t get much sleep

A psychologist said have an autism test and I will know how to treat you. It said I had autism and she basically cut me off because she is not a specialist in that area

When I was in hospital a nurse advised me to pay off my student loan so I could go full time benefits. He told me I would never be able to live a normal life again.

I spat pills out at the back of a doctors head as he walked away. There were police on the ward and they tried to overpower me. I rugby tackled them and they pinned me down and forced an injection

An occupational health worker recommended I do some weird Japanese spiritual thing and go sing to a lake to get rid of negative energy

She got fired for making sexual advances on patients

Thats kind of really vague we all have some negative energy.

Reminds of stuff my ex used to say

Has a few run ins with stupid healthcare workers. One said APs do not cause weight gain and that ‘I had put on the beef’
