Facing discrimination yet again from medical workers

I am really angry at the moment.

Yesterday my son had an appointment with a nurse to discuss his poor eating (AFRID I think)

She took a thorough medical history going right back to pregnancy.

She asked if I had any health issues. As soon as I disclosed my diagnosis of schizophrenia she then made accusations

The accusations of heavy drinking and drug use through my pregnancy. She even said it was on my medical records. But when I asked to see them she wouldn’t let me.

So I’ve spent today contacting doctors to find out if this is indeed true. And if it is indeed on my records then why is it there.

I highly doubt it is but I have to get to the bottom of it. Cause if it’s not why would she accuse me of something like this.

I have also written a complaint to pals.

Really fucking angry. Think I may try and get rid of my diagnosis to be honest cause this isn’t the first time I’ve faced discriminatory comments from professionals

Im sorry you are dealing with this.

I wouldnt even know where to begin to get rid of a sz diagnosis. Its a chronic condition , meaning that it is never supposed to go away. Getting a pdoc to reverse their diagnosis sounds difficult.

I share your fears of discrimination, though. I had to plaster my face and identity on the web in order to start the gofundme.

This is why I no longer mention where I work.

Good luck with everything.

Just an update.

I got hold of my pregnancy records today and I have gone through them. No mention of drugs or alcohol. Only that I stopped drinking as soon as I discovered I was pregnant.

So why would this nurse lie ?

I followed up my complaint to see what
Is happening via email and I got a phone call.

The woman on the phone said this nurse would not have even had my medical records she would have only had my sons. So I asked her why did she say this then. She said she doesn’t know but it doesn’t sound like something she would
Do lol

Well she did.

She asked me if I wanted to take it further and I said yes I do.

So merry fucking Christmas you ■■■■■.

I love how the moment the SZ comes out, so do the fangs.

Nurse: How often is he violent?
Wife: Never. How often are you a bigot?

Definitely put that complaint in. We’re just as much people as everyone else is, we deserve the same respect as others, and we don’t need to put up with misinformed idiots climbing on us over a diagnosis we have no control of.

I’m sorry that you experienced such abhorrent behavior from a nurse.

I experienced something similar in 2016 when I was at the ER.

We don’t need this kind of abuse coming from so called medical professionals

@Qwerty

My daughter’s grew up with an affliction called ARFID…

Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder

If the taste, texture or presentation of the food was off, they would not eat.

I had to go to court because the nurse at the ER “didn’t know if I was homicidal or not” because I told her I have schizophrenia

Oh. That’s what having a journeyman chef cert says about me.

Good you should’t let this go, because it could happen to someone else….

This is something I’m deathly afraid of. Right now there is a case going on of a man in my city who stabbed a lady on the train and happened to have schizophrenia. Well theyre blaming it on his schizophrenia and not his long rap sheet. I think people equate being schizophrenic to being violent or something. I’m not so open anymore except on the web where no one knows me and I don’t disclose too many details about where I live. I’m sorry that happened to you. Medical gaslighting is no joke.

Absolutely take it up the chain of command! It’s discrimination and ignorance all in 1. Completely unacceptable.
