this Thursday April the 2nd I am going to my gyn appointment to discuss Hormone Replacement Therapy I do know that it has the risk of stroke and heart disease as well as blood clots that’s why I’m going to ask what kind of Hrt has the lowest risk of those side effects mentioned above. I know I will have to end up taking combined therapy and not just estrogen because combined therapy is needed when the woman still has her uterus And I still do so I will ask about that and just discuss other options too will update what she says and recommends when I see my gyn Thursday.
All the best @PsychWard101
thank you @Wave
I’m on it and I love it. But I don’t have a uterus or ovaries anymore. No more hot flashes or other related issues. Yay!!! Best of luck to you!
thank you @Lilyofthevalley
I’m on a light one called progesterone taken at bed time
Oh good luck for tomorrow. I heard that estrogen is good for your skin but can make you a bit larger and as you mentioned has other side effects. My neighbour takes a herbal supplement instead from Holland and Barrett and she is very pleased with it
I don’t want to get any larger so I will ask what one is best for weight management and loss and has the lowest risk of other side effects like stroke and heart disease and blood clots I will ask what the best options for me are and if not, I won’t do anything maybe just get a herbal supplement instead I don’t know what to take to lose the weight I gained from perimenopause and it’s hard to lose too especially around my belly. These are questions I will be asking my gyn tomorrow when I go.
that’s what my gyn dr gave me is 100mg of progesterone and she wants to see me back at her office in 6 weeks so she can follow up on how I am doing on the progesterone I take it right before I go to bed.
It makes you feel good
That’s good do you have any side effects taking progesterone? And what I can I expect I know everyone is different, but I just want to know what to expect this will be my first dose tonight @Turtle
The first night I took it was like wow this feels great by your second dose it doesn’t make you feel that way kinda relaxed feeling. They said take it at night but it gave me a burst of energy.
I hope you like it. I had no side effects.
That’s great I hope it gives me energy and that I will like it and have no side effects, but everyone reacts differently even if they take the same dose and same medication. Thanks @Turtle This all sounds encouraging and uplifting
What is it for? (If it’s not private)
Its for hormone regulation
Did you try it?
Yes I took my first dose last night it was very calming and relaxing like you said it was for you I like it so far and no side effects as of yet could have them later on then again maybe I wont have any side effects I am hopeful I wont
You probably won’t especially as your body is adjusting to it. The calming effects wear off as u get used to it
that’s good to know was hoping the calming effects would last a little bit longer and it helped some with my anxiety I have at times calmed me down quite a bit so that’s a plus. I don’t think I will have side effects fingers crossed I won’t have any or mild if any. Will update once I am on it for a week or two on how I am doing on it and adjusting to it.
Does progesterone cause you to bleed or have a period ?I started my period it seems and I havent had a period in almost 5 months I hope the bleeding stops once my body adjusts to the new hormone levels if the bleeding doesnt stop after about a week I will reach out to my obgyn
