Gum healing up nicely

I had a lower middle tooth pulled last Monday as I posted. I was so worried about the required blood clot to form in the hole in the gum. I was so worried I would throw up and dislodge it right after the surgery and get dry socket because gauze in my mouth makes me gag. And in fact I made it all the way home with the gauze in my mouth but when I got home I couldn’t stand it anymore and the feeling of the gauze in my mouth made me take it out to throw up.

But I made it 45 minutes with it in my mouth and that was enough. I was really careful to follow the post op instructions so I wouldn’t get dry socket or an infection. I had stocked up on smooth foods to eat the first 48 hours after it was pulled so I ate applesauce, mashed potatoes, pudding and tomato soup. I swished salt water in my mouth this whole weeks about 4 times a day, took the antibiotics and pain killers and rinsed with a bottled solution.

Now 5 days later I’m not in pain and eating more solid food. I got a huge hole in my gums but that’s alright, I figure I’ll heal fully in a couple of weeks. Now in a couple of weeks I’ll get two crowns and a bridge but I still have three upper back teeth that I had root canals on and there’s decay inside them so the dentist will drill those down and put three crowns on them. The lower teeth will cost $1200 and so will the upper teeth.

Having work done at the dentist can be tough. You survived the worst part. Hopefully, the healing will be smooth sailing.
