its very possible man, but you gotta get rid of the vape. Can’t just keep it in the house and expect to not wanna vape right… probably best to sell it or chuck it in the bin

Try nicotine patches and pouches or gums..Your lungs are important …

Vaping increases dopamine when you have a dopamine deficit. I think that’s why it’s so hard for us SZs to quit. Kinda self medicates the in-balance.

The meds make it difficult to keep long term mindset. I think because it messes around with dopamine, but nicotine does this as well.

It’s an uphill battle but without the shortcuts like medicine, mindset does have an effect

I’ve always gone back to smoking bc of depressive feelings inability to cope. If I had a longer supply of medicine, I’d probably have quit by now

STEP‑BY‑STEP PLAN TO QUIT VAPING (FOR HEAVY USERS)

This is the full structured plan.
It’s designed so he doesn’t crash, relapse, or lose his mind.

:star: STEP 1 — Stabilise the nicotine first (3–5 days)

Someone who vapes every hour is spiking nicotine constantly.
Before quitting, he needs to level out.

What he does:

  • Pick ONE nicotine strength (e.g., 20mg or 10mg)

  • Use it consistently

  • No switching between strengths

  • No chain‑vaping

  • No “panic hits”

Goal:

:backhand_index_pointing_right: Stop the spike‑crash cycle
:backhand_index_pointing_right: Get the brain used to a steady level

Guided link:
nicotine stabilisation

:star: STEP 2 — Set a timer between hits (days 5–12)

This is the most important behavioural step.

Start with:

  • If he vapes every hour → stretch to 90 minutes

  • After 2–3 days → stretch to 2 hours

  • After another 2–3 days → 3 hours

Why this works:

  • It reduces dopamine conditioning

  • It breaks the “automatic reach” habit

  • It teaches the brain to wait

Guided link:
reduce vaping frequency

:star: STEP 3 — Drop nicotine strength (week 2)

Once he can go 2–3 hours between hits:

  • 20mg → 10mg

  • 10mg → 5mg

  • 5mg → 3mg

  • 3mg → 0mg

He stays at each level 3–5 days.

Why this works:

:backhand_index_pointing_right: The brain adjusts gradually
:backhand_index_pointing_right: No panic withdrawal
:backhand_index_pointing_right: No “I need it NOW” moments

Guided link:
nicotine taper plan

:star: STEP 4 — Replace the physical habit

This is where most people fail.
Nicotine is only HALF the addiction — the other half is the hand‑to‑mouth loop.

He needs replacements:

  • sugar‑free gum

  • mints

  • water bottle

  • toothpicks

  • fidget tool

  • chewing something crunchy

Why:

:backhand_index_pointing_right: It satisfies the behaviour without nicotine
:backhand_index_pointing_right: It kills the automatic “grab vape” reflex

Guided link:
break habit loop

:star: STEP 5 — Prepare for the 72‑hour withdrawal window

This is the hardest part, but it’s predictable.

He will feel:

  • irritability

  • restlessness

  • low mood

  • cravings

  • poor sleep

What helps:

  • drink water

  • avoid caffeine

  • go for walks

  • early nights

  • distraction tasks

  • breathing exercises

Guided link:
manage withdrawal

:star: STEP 6 — Find the REAL reason he wants to quit

People don’t quit because of “health”.
They quit because something personal hits.

Examples:

  • money

  • embarrassment

  • control

  • fitness

  • family

  • self‑respect

He needs to identify his reason.

Guided link:
find quitting motivation

:star: STEP 7 — The final quit day

Once he’s at 0mg and can go 3–4 hours between hits:

:backhand_index_pointing_right: He stops completely.

He’ll still get cravings, but they’ll be manageable because:

  • nicotine is already low

  • the habit loop is broken

  • the brain is stabilised

It is going to take some time to quit @Rainstorm

Be prepared for the long run. It is slow and arduous and takes somne willpower.

It is not easy.

You can’t just say I quit and last an hour. This takes weeks and months, but the above plan is something concrete to try.

true but better than shortening your life even if it helps you quit for a day or two thats a foothold to quitting longterm

I don’t have great advice, because I struggle with this too, but maybe your best bet is to get rid of all your vaping stuff and hope you don’t cave and buy more. Outta sight, outta mind? And you will save a bunch of money

What’s making you wanna quit? Nicotine is good for a schizophrenics mind. Unless you are a chain puffer. Maybe cut down to 5 min sessions every hour or half an hour.

Very carefully
