Going to give mostly giving up smoking in the new year a shot

I really want to be able to smoke on break at work. Its something that i really look forward to and kind of acts as a reset in between working and break.

And I want to have one once in awhile when I am really needing one.

But I plan on trying to cut down considerably in the New year.

If I could keep it to 2 or 3 a day when Im not working, I would be happy with that.

P.S. Smoking is a nasty habit. If you don’t smoke please, for the love of all that is holy, do not start. It is so hard to quit once you get addicted.

Har you considered using nicotine replacement ? You can get the nicotine pouches which might work.

I vape but I allow myself to smoke once or twice a year. If it wasn’t for the vape I’d be smoking all the time.

I’m trying to switch to nicotine pouches at the moment.

I have tried gum, nicotine patches, cold turkey and slow reduction methods over the years. I also vaped for awhile.

My experience has been that it is both the addiction and habit that are hard to break.

Thank you for the suggestion @Qwerty . May look into it if I dont do well in the new year on this.

I did quit a couple times. Once for a very long time. Maybe a year or so.

try Bupropion. I got a prescription from my doctor when I told him I want to try to stop smoking. it helps, it makes you miss nicotine less and less. for me it is a good drug, it helps me with depression and ADHD. and I don’t carve for nicotine. I stopped smoking 5 years ago, soon 6 years. I could never ever smoke again, it makes me sick to even think about that! I also began a straight edge lifestyle after quitting smoking. I think that has done good for me.

stopping smoking is a huge deal, a huge step towards more healthier life, and I believe your doctor might be on board with the bupropion prescription. I hope you good luck with quitting smoking. it is a nasty habit and I regret the day I started to smoke. but you can quit. I believe in you!
