I quit smoking after 32 years…i smoked a pack a day and supplemented the cigarettes with the vape. I quit about 3 years ago by chewing the nicotine gum…i still chew it every day but it’s cheaper than cigs. Quitting was hard but since quitting my pulmonary function tests have improved.

I have quit long term twice. Once cold turkey and more recently with chantix briefly combined with nicotine gum. I quit the chantix and after the first filling of prescription ran out and did gum for a bit. I still have a bit of gum once in awhile when I feel I need it but am getting close to eliminating it.

Ive been off and on cigarettes for years. Keep switching between the nicotine gum for a few weeks then smoking for a bit then switching back to the gum. I really want to quit nicotine completely. So hard ay! I get extreme anger problems when i get off nicotine. Even just by getting off the chewy.
But if i could just withstand the few weeks of withdrawal, I’d be free of it.

I have never smoked before, but my dad did. I kind of drink, but not often and prefer small amounts. My parents are afraid I will become alcoholic because they’re always watching out for me. Also, they think I’m a shopaholic but I don’t think I am but I’m the only one in my family that likes to shop.

Hmm true that. I seem to be an all or nothing kinda person. Im either being super healthy and postitive or im actively screwing up my life completely. I think its the bipolar part of my schizoaffective disorder haha.

Yes sounds like you know your illness well, bipolar side of it does have those types of things

I find my quiet borderline mood shifts make it hard to stick with things and when im triggered i chain smoke

Idk i could maybe cut down, have gum and cigs?

Yeah it really does work. The gum. It doesnt hit you like a cig in the morning but it takes the craving away for a cig. And if you get a nice good quality pack of high strength gum and a nice flavour. It really helps a lot.
Or you can even use a couple of different nicotine replacements like gum and patches or mouth spray and lozenges or whatever you like for the first while when getting used to not breathing in smoke. I dunno if youve tried that stuff before or not but it really does work. Best way to do it is have it first thing in the morning instead of a smoke. If i switch over half way through a day of smoking it doesnt really help me as much.
I havent had a ciggie in 2 weeks now. So much better for ya. :slightly_smiling_face:

Well I started smoking age 15 until this day where I’m 57 and never stopped. I used to smoke 70 but now I smoke just 40 cigarettes daily.

I’m planning to smoke Til The Kingdom comes.

once you start the gum…that’s it…no smoking in between unless you wait over two hours after a piece of gum…or it could mess deeply with your heart.
