Hygiene streak unlocked

This month I have really been focusing on improving my hygiene. I have been showering every other day and washing my hair twice a week. In the morning I brush my teeth before doing anything else. At night my goal is to do the full hygiene thing. Floss, water pick, Oral B toothbrush for the full 2 minutes and washing and moisturizing my face. It might not seem like a lot but to me it really is.

I’m hoping I can make it a habit and just making it a normal thing that doesn’t take much effort

it does get easier. at one point I used to avoid showering, now it’s routine. keep it up; hygiene is always to be celebrated. people don’t realise how weak a person can get in wanting to live life

thats really great  hygiene is important especially for mental health. it can be demoralizing when you dont feel like doing self care

Yeah, I started timing myself with my watch to brush my teeth for two minutes. Maybe now I’ll stop needing root canals.

That’s a great step. I use an electric brush with a built in timer that really helps me

I hope this doesn’t sound too awful but I joined this forum for support on my sz journey and to offer support to others if I had any. But it’s super hard for me to get in the shower. I used to be a shower every day kind of gal but now I look at the shower and it fills me with dread. I wash like a shower almost but outside the shower using the hot sink water. But I don’t get in the shower except once every ten days or so.

We all start somewhere! When I was at my sickest with being newly diagnosed schizoaffective, I’d go 5-10 days without a shower sometimes and brushing my teeth is something I rarely did. It’s something I learned to do over time
