Might either need a new car or new transmission soon.
My Nissan x-terra gets up to about 40 mph fine and then it no longer shifts properly. It just continues to rev higher and higher in that gear.
So yeah, not great that we might need a new car when I am unemployed, have two mortgages to pay for, and we only have my wife and my SSDI as income.
Thank God we have some savings.
So yeah, Sammy Hagar and all.

It also seems like it sometimes it slips out completely for a second in the gears past about 40.

Hopefully your condo will sell soon.
Is your car red by any chance?

No, its silver. But I have a can of spray paint if you would buy it if its red.

Look this up on the chrisfix channel on YouTube. Might be something simple.
Edit: You checked the tranny fluid?

My model does not have a dipstick. You have to take it in. I would not think it would be that, though, since the lower gears seem to shift fine.
I will take a look as suggested.
Should be near the firewall then. You’re describing symptoms of low transmission fluid.

IF thats all it is , that would be great. Thanks for the advice. I guess I’m going to have to take it in somewhere.
Would be nice if they made it so you could check it yourself.
oh, btw….in the video they said you have to have a professional do it as well.
Take care my friend.
Don’t let the good Lord hit ya where the good Lord split ya.

Horse puckey. Undo the 10mm screw and lift the unmarked black cap. There is a dipstick on the underside. Use it to get the fluid level.

Dang… Those SUVs not a pretty picnic.
If it’s any consolation… my toyota only has 3 speeds… anything above 25 is all more RPMs.
You might wanna treat it like a manual and just use 1, 2 or low when your moving it around. I’m not too familiar with Nissans, but if you’re highest gear burnt out then don’t set the car up to try and use it.
