Took xterra in after it starting have a burning smell and leaking fluid. Transmission is toast. New one would cost too much to be worth in that age vehicle.
So went up to car dealership today and bought a 2026 Hyundai Elantra.
Not driving much yet though because cant get it insured until Monday.
I’d post pics but its in our garage and the only light in there is the overhead from door opener. Cant get decent pics in that lighting.
Thats a highly rated car by my recollection.

my car did well today on the roads/motorwaym it does better at high speed on the fuel, I’ve been trying to sort out a software glitch that meant they thought I had paid but nothing came out of my bank account so I was trying to get them to take it bc I didn’t want a large bill further down the line, apparently they switched over to a new system and it dropped a couple of numbers from my acct number (weird)
What would happen if you drove the Xterra with bad transmission until it dies?

shop said there were metal shavings in fluid and fluid was “burnt”. I dont think it has long.
Edit: It was already not shifting past 40/45 mph.
sorry about the transmission..thank goodness you could afford a new car.
afford is a relative term. lol. It was partially financed but we put about 3/5ths of the total cost down. Still an expense we could do without, but its not too bad.
But yes, we are lucky we were able to get it.

I had a car where the gas meter was broken. I couldn’t tell how much gas was in my car and to my obsessive compulsive self that was hell. Gas station trips every day.
