I miss my music teacher

Me and my sister had a punk band in highschool called the orthapedic bombshells and we sounded like the Ramones because my dad had bought us the album. My music teacher, an older white man with a white pony tail and a girlfriend that looked like cher who used to hoola hoop in front of the business used to teach us every week how to play guitar and drums and how to write songs. He used to bring us zucchini and okra from his farm and even invited to play a few drumming circles. I miss him and always wonder what happened to him. He was like a third grandfather to me.

That’s really cool you and your sister had a punk band. I’ve always wanted to be in a band but I didn’t really learn how to play guitar until later in my life.

It’s never too late if you wanted to try. Even if it’s just for fun, but it’s really easy to find battle of the bands and open mic nights.

We once played at the skate park right where the skaters skated.

Oh cool! That’s actually what exposed me to punk music at a young age, getting into skateboarding.

Good choice!

My all time favorite band is probably The Cure. I grew up listening to their music in the 80s and their songs will always have a place in my heart.

When it comes to punk music I love a lot of the really political stuff like Discharge, and Crass. And a lot of the straight edge hardcore bands like Earth Crisis, Chain of Strength, Champion. Stuff like that.

I’ll have to check those out. These days I listen to Metal and West Coast hip hop. I’ve been to rap shows, metal shows, and punk shows and they kind of share the same energy.

Oh yeah, for sure. All of those genres of music are mostly about “sticking it to the man” lol.
