Medicines for very low motivation and anhedonia

If anyone has a medication suggestion for the lack of. Motivation and Anhedonia that I could discuss with my pdoc that would be great. I also have ADHD and I don’t take anything for it right now. I take a low dose of zoloft and a low dose of lithium with my schizophrenia meds which are Rexulti and SEROQUEL

I was going to suggest low dose Abilify but @Batik21 is already on Rexulti.

Too similar

Yeah and it’s weird bc I can’t take Abilify bc of akathisia. I felt like crawling off my skin and I couldn’t hold still. It was awful, but for some reason I haven’t had a bad reaction to rexulti

Maybe Wellbutrin if you can handle the activation @Batik21

Do any of you all have ADHD also? Maybe I need to take something for it and maybe that’s the answer

. But I know everyone in my life does not want me severely psychotic again if it can be helped.

You have to be very careful with ADHD medications.

Too many of them can trigger psychosis

no but abilify compared to haldol helped me so much with motivation

It’s so hard. I can’t take Abilify, Latuda and Olanzapine don’t work for me anymore, I can’t take Invega or anything related to it bc it gave me severe TD. I just feel really limited.

I’ve heard a low dose of amisulpride (50mg) is effective for negative symptoms but if I take that low a dose, my psychosis comes back. So I take a moderately higher dose (400mg at least).

Ziprasidone and Invega have both helped my negative symptoms. I’m on Invega currently.

@Mars

I took Geodon and it helped. At least I noticed that it did. But having to have 500 cal meals with every pill mace it hard for me to use. I think I could consider going back on that one actually

Yeah it was a great med until it quit working for me. Was on it for years.

@Mars yeah, ZYPREXA is one I took for probably 15 years until it quit working

Caffeine is the only thing that seems to help me with motivation + diet & excersise. I’m on zyprexa.

I’d go with partial agonist drugs, some supplements, such as sarcosine, caffeine and possibly stimulants and nootropics; although they are risky business in on itself. :hot_beverage: :pill:

It has been my experience that Wellbutrin can indeed help, but I was also taking wellbutrin when I had my last break, so…you know…half dozen here , 6 over there. Don’t know if its worth the risk in some cases.
