Before this illness I had a lot of motivation to exercise. Even when I was depressed etc, I did pushups, I ran 5k, I visited the gym and this was when I didn’t see myself as a person who had any exercise goals or wanted to stay fit.
I had the motivation to move and do stuff. I couldn’t just lie on the couch as I do now.
I think olanzapine is causing me to have no motivation.
I want to change this. I’m on both vraylar and olanzapine.
I’m thinking of talking to my doc. Maybe lower the olanzapine and increase the vraylar. But I don’t know if it would help?
Olanzapine didn’t give me motivation either. Nor does haldol but amisulpride is quite good for that. Well most of the time that is. Sometimes I still get terrible avolition.
Why isn’t amisulpride available in America?? It’s a amazing miracle med!
I had negative and cognitive symptoms 1 year before diagnosis, before any meds. I still blame the meds but deep down I know its mainly from sz.
With 3 years on risperidone they improved by 20-30℅ compared to before. I stay much less in bed and I go outside several times a week, more in the summer to walk as there is snow in winter. Actually they are better now than when I was diagnosed. I think as long as your have no positive symptoms at all and avoid triggers and stress the brain heals.
On Abilify I had slightly more motivation but more like restlessness and mania, was not feeling normal always agitated or angry and was definitively not as smart as on risperidone. I was partying and was outside the house too much and was spending too much money. I couldn’t stay at home, was hanging out with multiple friends everyday. Now I feel calmer, wiser and more mature. Even though I managed to get a 3 years university degree on Abilify I did not feel smart or normal on it.
I have motivations to do things either on Amisulpride or Olanzapine, but I can’t do much because I was and am easily tired. It was extremely tired everyday. So motivations don’t help me go long in terms of productivity.
You know meds don’t do that much for negative symptoms like motivation and energy is my personally experience but those works wonders for psychosis, mood and sleep and some meds even work wonders for alcoholism. So the most painfully symptoms can really be helped by antipsychotics.
Before getting diagnosed I lifted weights all the time 144lbs i was. curling 80 pounds like 50 or 60 times not all at once of course. rode my bicycle alot.. did 500 push ups a day. Not all at once lol.. but ya every since getting on meds I only move to go to bathroom and take dog outside.. now im 261lbs. Thank you meds!!!
My meds gives me energy and motivation.the illnes itself is what makes us lazy and lack motivation.choosing the right meds is the key to symptoms relief and keep functioning.
