My Etsy shop (not showing it just a question)

I am adding handmade jewellery, they look ok but when I take photos of them you can see they are imperfect. It shows way more imperfections than I can see through my eyes on the actual product which makes me question if I should sell them.

take dozens of snaps of each from different angles and try to adjust pisitioning and lighting also back ground colour etc matters

It shows up less on a darker background because the earrings are white…. but I feel conscious because I can see if I look close enough on the photos.

I am going to put a note saying “not perfect because they are handmade so may have some imperfections “

Can you post a picture here as an example? I’m guessing it’s not as bad as you think

Can I send it to you via pm?

I got it. You’ve done amazing work. I found the teeny tiny imperfections and you can put a clause about minor handmade imperfections but it’s unnecessary

Im gonna put a section where I mention it and if they write yes, thats how they can purchase so I know theyvé read it.

If you can only see it with your camera, could your lense be dirty?

no… im pretty sure its the varnish picking up little flecks of dust.

I hope so thanks @Lilyofthevalley

The trick is getting your jewelry to populate higher in the list on Etsy. If people see them, they’ll want to buy them.

Hi @Ish I’ve sold things on Etsy. I can’t see your photo but I think us crafters are too hard on ourselves. I’ll bet your jewelry is beautiful!

I think the following could help you write a description for the things you’re selling. It’s google ideas. I hope it’s ok to post. Best wishes to you for selling things! :pink_heart:

AI Overview

Describe handmade items with imperfections by

framing them as unique, charming, and authentic, using terms like “perfectly imperfect,” “one-of-a-kind,” or “character-filled.”

Emphasize that slight variations highlight the human-made process, turning potential flaws into special, unique features.

Here are ways to phrase this in an attractive way:

Key Phrases and Phrases

  • “Perfectly imperfect” — A very popular term to highlight that the item is unique and not mass-produced.

  • “Charmingly unique” — Suggests that imperfections are part of the item’s personality.

  • “Handmade charm” — Implies that slight imperfections are intentional and add character.

  • “One-of-a-kind” — Emphasizes that no two items are exactly alike.

  • “Artisan character” — Highlights the human touch, suggesting it’s not a machine-made product.

Tips for Selling

  • Show, Don’t Just Tell: Use close-up, high-quality photos to highlight the unique “imperfections” so buyers know exactly what they are getting.

  • Reframe “Flaws”: Avoid words like “damaged” or “broken.” Instead, use “quirks,” “variations,” or “character”.

  • Emphasize Human Touch: Remind customers that these items are made with patience and love, rather than by a machine.

@Bitty yes, I overthink things I think I see more imperfections than others might because I made them. I’ll send you a photo of it.

Try “Each piece is handmade and unique so may not be the same across the board”.
