Ive been in a masters program for animal science and im already struggling hard with it. I think i might have made a mistake but i wouldnt have known if i didnt try. Its not very hard yet but it is a ton of work and i cant keep up. I dont even have faith ill be able to ever hold down a job
Always good to try or you will never know what you can do. I wish you luck and hope that you are able to pull it out.
My husband said i should keep trying because im probably just depressed.. i know i am depressed so i think hes right
Have you been able to work with your BA?
No but i majored in philosophy and wanted to be a professor. Gave up on that idea by the end of it
I think it’s good you tried. Is it now or never though? I mean can you take a semester off to receive extra mental health care and learn coping skills that work for you, and then return to school?
I am in a masters programme too, what are you struggling with? cognitive? I got some ways to improve on that, got some ways to improve negative symptoms too and they are working well
Its mostly avolition. I have no motivation and it comes and goes a lot.
Yea had that issue all of a sudden during october- November period. What changed my negative symptoms are a series of changes, I took 2 cooked oysters for zinc, 1-2 serving farmed salmon for vitamin b12 ,b6 , red lentils for vitamin B9, sarcosine 1 gram, daily, they all helped my negative tremendously, also being on a d2 partial agonist helps a bit, I am on aripiprazole
Also taking mounjaro for weight loss, 4 cups of green tea
daily and sauerkraut sometimes
I am starting a course and they have mentors and study skills coaches
It would be worth seeing if they can help you
I really feel this, @moon. I started on a school journey not long ago. I really thought that I wanted to do nursing, but like you, I wasn’t certain I could even hold down a job. Now that I have a job, I’ve decided I want to work with adult learners, and I’ve changed my course of study. I tried the nursing prereq’s, though, and I’m glad I did. Between them and a basic knowledge of the physical demands of nursing, I realized it wasn’t feasible. I’m so thankful I tried, though. I don’t want to always wonder, “But what if?”
Yeah, @Joker had a good idea. Does your school offer tutoring services? They can really help. Or can you file for accommodations? Some of the accommodations they might give you is taking your tests in an empty classroom so you can concentrate and don’t have any distractions or giving you extra time on taking tests.
I think tutoring is an excellent idea if it’s at all possible/affordable. As someone who has tutored before I can vouch for its success as long as the student wants to learn!
Since this semester is wrapping up, have you considered taking fewer classes next term? I have to do everything part-time myself.
