Sleeping a lot on rexulti, or..?

Ever since I started rexulti, ive Been sleeping 1O-16 hours a day. Doctors refused to change meds upon request, saying that people with psychosis usually have daytime sleepiness.

Is it rexulti messing with me or do psychotic people really get tired easier?

My sleep schedule is completely messed up, I sleep 7 hours, stay awake for 4, sleep 4 hours, stay awake for 3, sleep 8 hours, stay awake for 3, etc. I feel weirder than usual. Rexulti otherwise has been a good medicine for me so they dont want to change it since finding a working medicine was so difficult.

ive never been on rexulti but i have similar problems on abilify… my sleep schedule is completely erratic lol

Im on Rexulti . Typically after I take it in the morning it makes me fall asleep for a couple more hours. However I have insomnia rather than sleeping a lot.

all antipsychotic cause sedation which make you feel sleepy.

I take rexulti. It doesn’t really make me tired on its own. But I also take other seating needs so maybe I didn’t notice. I do feel more tired than the average person I think. I mean moreso than the average normie or whatever weird you might use. I think overall rexulti has been a good AP for me.

Maybe that is the idea anyway, you are docile and easier to manage - what you think of any of this may be secondary consideration in any case. But if the drug is decent or if there is no more effort for treatment expected, maybe that is it.

I do think daytime sleepiness is normal on meds

Thanks everyone for the insights, my friends and family were baffled when they wouldn’t change my medication after request. A friend keeps telling me to stop taking naps but I just get so tired. Slept from 1Opm to 3am, 7am to 4pm… keep taking naps, etc…

I was on rexulti for a bit a few yesrs ago and boy oh boy! Your not wrong! I slept like 15 hours a day at least on that med. It seems like it might be a rare side effect only some people get from it. But i deffs was always knocked out from it. Its funny because its supposed to be a less sedating med kinda like abilify. But when i was on rexulti and sleeping over 15 hours a day, plus being extremely tired for my waking hours, it was not at all “less sedating” for me.
It could be that your getting a similar effect from it like i did.
