Trying to decide how long i should hold out for a remote job

Unless we sell our condo soon, its pretty important that I get a job sometime soon. I dont want to see our savings shrink , as we are on fixed incomes without me having a job.

I’m wondering what are my chances of landing one? Should I just give it a couple months and then start looking for work outside of the house?

What do you think my chances are of landing something I can do from home part time? Should I be considering other opportunities?

What are your opinions?

I think you should take @77nick77 's advice here:

I hate to say it but I spent almost a year looking for a remote job. I did find one but it was too stressful for me. Signing people up for Medicaid. Essentially it was customer service.

They like to hire people who are disabled. Do you want their info? They might have something in your area. Here I’ll share it

Thanks for the link @FreeLunch . I can probably go a few months without having a huge impact on our savings, but I dont think its wise for me to take a year looking. Unless we sell the condo, it will put a significant strain on our resources.

If I cant find something remote sometime soon , or we sell the condo, I might have to go the “brick and mortar” route.

If we can sell the condo, it will buy me quite a bit of time to shop around at my leisure.

Good luck with selling the condo!

I would look right now; I wouldn’t wait for a remote job that may or may not happen. If you do get hired soon by a brick and mortar job, take it. If a remote job does happen, and you don’t like your current job, you can always resign and take the remote job.

Medium to low. More people after remote jobs than there are remote jobs. You need to have a specialized and in-demand skillset to up the odds.

i’d say get it done as soon as possible. dont leave til tomorrow what you can do today. The fact is its winter now, and its nearing the end of winter so the world at large is naturally reaching the end of the resources its saved up over the abundant times in the summer. So the late winter months tend to be financially tougher times. So my advice would be to be proactive about making money now if you can rather than waiting until february, march, april etc. things will be tougher then.

Absolutely. Take the job you need in the moment while searching for the job you want.
