Job hunting thread

I always suggest using employment agencies but it seems like no one has ever used one. I’ll post it again though. Employment agencies are where you can go and fill out an application and give to them and then they will do all the job hunting for you. If they find an employer looking for someone then they will notify you and you can put in your application and interview for the job.

The employment agency does all the work of finding job openings. Some agencies charge for this service, sometimes it’s free. When I was 19 I used an employment agency who got me a job in a tobacco factory as a shipping & receiving clerk. It paid a $700 a month salary back when If you worked full-time at minimum wage it paid about $400 a month. The employment agencies fee was $125 a month out of my first two months paychecks.. It was a good job, better than any job I had in those years.

There are also employment agencies for the disabled and specifically for the mentally ill. I used a few of these, they were free and they had connections with employers where they filled the employers open positions with people. So they had access to jobs in the companies where the open position was not widely publicized or not known by the general public. And the employers knew they were hiring disabled people so if you got hired by one of them you didn’t have to worry about whether to disclose or not, they already hired you knowing.

I went to one of these agencies who held classes on getting jobs, gave you vocational tests to see what you are most suited for and held mock interviews to practice and wrote a resume` for you. They also gave me a $100 to buy nice interview clothes..

I got 4 or 5 different jobs using employment agencies, I think I only paid the one time. Here’s something you might look into @SzSupportAdmin: temporary employment agencies who get you jobs for anywhere from a day long to three months. The ones I used usually charged a nominal fee for this. The agency has murtual arrangements with a bunch of companies and supply them regularly with temp workers. These are usually fast ways to get jobs and can supply money while yon are looking for a permanent employment. Often a temporary job turns into a permanent one if you work for an employer for a couple weeks or so and you impress them so they keep you on permanently.
