TW: Triggered a Religious Delusion

My main issue when it comes to schizophrenia is my neighbors stalking me and religious delusions. This week in therapy we worked on agency: sitting outside while my neighbors were outside and writing down what was happening and fact checking it against reality. Well I stopped taking my zoloft and immediately begin writing letters to source? Someone? I’m not religious(atheist) fora a very good reason though that’s the problem. I haven’t told my therapist because I don’t want to offend her. But I’ve been writing letters to a source (god?) for five days and every single time I do I fall deeper into my delusion. Please don’t tell me I am going to hell. I don’t believe in it. I just have never been good with SSRIs or Anti depressant. The last time I went to the hospital I ran out of Prozac and “God” told me to travel 4 hours from home and live in the woods. I don’t think I need to go to the hospital but when I Google an article it told me to stop consuming spiritual content immediately. I have been viewing “prophets” on YouTube for several days now.

I would stop watching those videos or reading those kind of things. If you’re anxious take a PRN. If you need those meds I would take them.

I want to take the meds really but it’s causing me insomnia

Yeah and insomnia sucks too so I get it. I’d just quit watching that kind of stuff and find something to do that distracts you from those thoughts.

Why are you writing to source/god if you dont believe in source/god? and why do prophets interest you?

I’ve rabbit holed down spiritual/religious psychosis. It fries your brain.

I still engage with alot of myth/religion but purely as a educational hobby. I think your reality checking exercise is good, particularly if you reinforce the idea of God as a myth. Also, if your voices are pretending to be God - be extra careful, your voices might suggest ideas that arent true and eventually harm you down the track. Mine did.

I’m not really sure. It’s just something my mind defaults to. Like right now I know what’s going on. It’s just subtle changes in my mind.

Watching those videos is a choice, right? Well, choose not to watch them. Why are you afraid to offend your therapist? I wouldn’t be afraid to tell your therapist about all this religious stuff, they’ve heard it all and have thick skin so you’re not going to offend or insult them, you’re not harming anyone but yourself with these delusions and it’s not going to hurt your therapist if you tell her this stuff. I couldn’t imagine anyone here telling you you’re going to hell.

just try to stick to the healthy thoughts, keep away from the other stuff, if it gets worse tell your Psychiatrist

Got to avoid religious stuff on yt.

Eventually all delusions pass could be years and a new delusion comes into the picture
