Went to the local support network community place

I went to the local community support network community place where I live here.

This is a small town where everybody knows everyone except me, since I moved here three years ago

The first couple days there I didnt really talk to anybody but the peer support coordinator who I told my whole life story

then the rest of the time I sat at a table coloring with a few other people who were there

the last time I was there was tuesday, and some higher up guy in the organization was talking to me and started to give me whole “gotta start making changes and improvements in your life” talk.

I haven’t been back since. I figure theyre just going to try to get me off disability and start working again, but thats not going to be sustainable for me.

Im probably not going back there.

You dont have to do any sessions where u feel pressured. That doesnt sound any fun.

idk man, there is this trend in the netherlands where they are trying to remove schizophrenia as a disease. that its not chronic but you can have psychosis. im not sure if this is good. the peer support group i went to actually helped me when i started hearing voices and they went away. i do think participating in society is a good thing for confidence, because when i see people sitting at home they just spiral downwards

I thought I was doing good till yesterday. I’ve been having minimal voices. I had to go to the doctor. The whole day before my voices were singing the same song all day and night sometimes super aggressive it nearly drove me insane. These people that pressure work have no idea what it’s like with this illness.

Yeah, dutch here as well and I’m also seeing this trend. Not sure if it’s the right way to go.

Stay away from people who are trying to downplay your illness

I was hoping to make friends and stuff but its not likely at my age. Apparently its easier to make friends when young and old but not in between.

Yeh shame they are pushing stuff on u there that is a bit offputting.

U wud think they would know better about how to interact with vulnerable ppl.

I just felt like a sore thumb there. Everyone knows eachother. I already had a foot out the door when mr chairperson started to get me to turn my life around

Yeh that sounds like an awful experience.

Well done for having taken the courage and intiative for something new nevertheless. Thats cool.
