Wait I’m confused do you mean you’re trying to pay your phone bill over WiFi?

You can pay your bill online. You just go to the companies website and make a password and username and log in and pay your bill. IDK if you’re going to do that or not but it’s possible.

Thanks y’all

There’s several internet apps you can use to make phone calls. FaceTime is another way.

@Turtle Some of those Apps are free or really inexpensive.

There’s several other apps. I use WhatsApp to call my sister in Mexico. You could try Google Voice.

Yes.

Here’s the whole conversation I had with ChatGPT about this:

When my phone plan ends can I use WiFi to make calls

Yes. If your cellular phone plan ends, you can still make calls over Wi-Fi, but it depends on how you make them:

  • Wi-Fi calling through your carrier: Usually requires an active cellular plan, so this generally won’t work after the plan is canceled.
  • Internet calling apps: These can work with Wi-Fi even with no cellular service. Examples include FaceTime Audio, WhatsApp, Google Meet, Messenger, and Skype.
  • Emergency 911: Don’t assume Wi-Fi apps will provide reliable 911 access after your cellular service ends.

So if you want to keep your regular phone number and make ordinary phone calls without cellular service, that’s a little different—we can go over the best options.

are those internet apps free

Yes. Most of those apps are free to use over Wi-Fi, as long as the other person uses the same app (or the service supports calling their number).

  • FaceTime Audio — Free to call other Apple users.
  • WhatsApp — Free voice calls to other WhatsApp users.
  • Messenger — Free calls to other Messenger users.
  • Google Meet — Free calls/video calls between users.
  • Skype — Free for Skype-to-Skype calls; calling regular phone numbers can cost money.

So if you cancel your phone plan but keep Wi-Fi at your apartment, you can still talk to friends and family without paying for cellular service.

If you’re mainly concerned about being able to call anyone’s regular phone number, I can explain the cheapest way to do that without a cell-phone plan.

Explain the cheapest way to call regular phone numbers without a cell-phone plan

Yes. If you cancel your cell-phone plan but keep Wi-Fi, the cheapest options are:

  1. Google Voice — probably the best choice for you.
    • You can get a U.S. phone number.
    • Calls to regular U.S. and Canadian numbers are generally free.
    • You can make calls using Wi-Fi from your computer or supported mobile setup.
    • You don’t need a cellular plan to use the service over Wi-Fi.
  2. TextNow — another very inexpensive option.
    • Gives you a phone number.
    • You can make calls over Wi-Fi.
    • The basic service is free, although there are paid options for additional features and keeping your number.
  3. Skype — useful if you need to call regular phone numbers, but calling phone numbers isn’t generally free. You pay for calling credits or a calling plan.

What I’d recommend

If you’re planning to completely cancel your cell service but keep your home Wi-Fi, I’d look at Google Voice first. You could have a regular-looking U.S. phone number and use your phone over Wi-Fi to make ordinary calls.

One important thing: don’t cancel your existing cellular service until you’ve transferred your current phone number, if you want to keep that number. Once the carrier account is canceled, you may lose the number.

If you tell me which carrier you have now (Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, etc.) and whether you have an iPhone, I can explain exactly how you could set this up.

Yes, I accidentally copied more than I meant to but read my whole post from ChatGPT, it’s very informative.

My iPhone has a built in feature that allows calls to be made via WiFi, not sure if you use Apple, though.
