a lot of people with autism are very open in telling you they have it I found
What are the symptoms?
I aināt got it mouse
Iāve read studies that autism and schizophrenia share overlapping behavioral conditions
im pretty open about it, its also my job to be.
My nephew is autistic and I never know wut to expect when I see him. Sometimes hes mellow. Sometimes hes a f*ckin lil a$$hole
Late dxed at the age of 62 in 2019.
I was diagnosed in 2016 when i was 24
My housemate has autism and he can be a nightmare to live with his triggers and irritability, currently being unpleasant with me because his dog likes me better then him and heās jealous, another time my other housemates mum baked me a cake for my 40th birthday as I invited her son to my birthday Indian meal and he just recently moved in my group home, he moaned because she didnāt bake him a cake for his birthday, but normally heās a decent person, very honest to a fault and likes pottering around in the garden, Im just more tolerant with him because no oneās perfect.
Oh yeah autism is heavily advertised when someone has it almost always. ive always been confused with how opposite its viewed compared to schizophrenia.
I was also diagnosed later in life (when I was like 31 or 32)
idk, it does explain a lot of my current and past problems. But I think mine is very mild. The most important thing is how someone copes with their neurodiversity.
I donāt tell anyone
My family probably do or have done in the past
For my sz I was only young and had no say on who was told

Once itās out there you can do nothing about it
I have some symptoms of autism but I am fine socializing. I think I just have overlapping symptoms from SZ.
Iām not diagnosed, but I have a lot of overlap with the traits and it would explain a lot of my problems.
I want to get tested but I doubt its going to happen unless I go to a different clinic or pay out of pocket.
I would be 1000 times more likely to discolse autism at a job rather than sz
.
I first entertained the possibility I might be in 2000/2001. My name was mud with my previous mental health team for being so persistent. Got labelled as ātroublesomeā. If Iād stayed in Essex Iād still be undxed. I regard myself as part of the vast, rather over looked autistic, middle. Not needing 24/7 care , but also not one of the āautism is my super powerā crowd. The type of person who goes from undiagnosed to diagnosed to self proclaimed āexpertā, with Youtube channel in <6 months.
For me itās a disability thatās probably had more of a debilitating effect than the comparatively mild , stress triggered, schizophrenia. Emphasis on comparatively.
I can relate and I was born in the 80s. Was āgiftedā and adjusted socially ok, but things got worse as I hit my 20s. Seems like autism diagnoses became more common in the 2000s. Now the world is even more hypersocial than the 90s/early 2000s and I feel even further behind.
Nahh not funny
Iāve always wondered about autism as in how do you manage it and what do they go through
There was no 2e when I was in school. You were regarded as either very intelligent, not overly intelligent, or as dumb as dumb can be. Hence zero help and support to maximise your potential . Academic performance can be blighted by things that have sod all to do with intelligence. A prime example being dysgraphia. Being only able to write <40% of that which the average person can write in the same period of time, coupled with the effort taken to write as legibly as possible, certainly lessens the quality of fuel going into your cognitive fuel tank.
