i see hmm, i dont think ADHD is so much about having a lot of energy though. There’s a stereotype about that. I think its more about not being able to keep ones concentration on one thing for an extended period of time. My mind drifts a lot. Like someone will be talking to me and ill be in LALA land thinking about something else lol. Especially on AP’s i dont have so much energy either. Actually, theres some theories that say thats in part what contributes to ADHD. The brain not having that mental energy to focus for some medical reason, i think.
I used to think the same thing “theres no way im ADHD” because im not a super energetic person. I also used to think there was no way i had ASD, but researching it i realized what it really was about and realized i do have some components of those conditions.
I have ADD which is ADHD without the H that is hyperactive. I have huge problems with attention (I have some hyperactive symptoms though, I tend to move a lot nervously, when I’m sitting down with someone and speaking for example…)
I can’t use ADHD medication because of antipsychotic medication I’m on. I’m not working though, but attention and focusing is a big problem for me at home too.
Yes I can relate— it’s really difficult to watch tv shows and movies because I can’t focus. Not sure if it’s anxiety-based or something organic like ADD (which I took meds for back in high school).
I will say it’s easier to watch movies and shows with other people— kind of keeps me accountable for not losing focus and stuff.
im exactly the same! i have barely seen any movie lol, i simply dont have the attention span for it. 30 minutes in and i want to get up and move around lol thats why i prefer youtube
Yes I can relate, when I am hearing voices it’s hard to communicate and stay focused you have to block out the voices or visual what ever is going on the time. You have to keep telling yourself self that you are safe and Iam in control of myself not the voices. It hard at first but over time it will work, simple ground technique, like I said it easy to get distracted but have you ever thought of a ADHD pill it helps me a lot and it’s a small dose of stratara helps me a lot. And Iam not a big pill taker but I hopes this helps you a little bit
My daughter has ADHD- Inattentive Type.. She’s not hyperactive, she’s a daydreamer. Her mind is always going off on anything but the task at hand. She’s very quiet too.
yea… you probably know more about adhd than me but i think the idea is that the “Attention” is hyperactive, not necessarily the person or their energy levels.
