i was diagnosed when i was in first grade of elementary school and immediately put on adderall, eating nasty little capsule beads dumped in my applesauce. after throwing up at school and feeling drugged and slow my mom pulled the plug and ive been raw dogging life ever since.
i always push it into the background but i feel it adds an extra complication being on meds that theoretically make it worse, and possibly why i dont have as severe of symptoms and theres still a possibility my original psychosis diagnosis years later of brief psychosis or drug induced psychosis may be more accurate than the years later sza diagnosis that was given by a new np after i had already been stable for multiple years based on my re explaining of symptoms from my limited memory.
i think my crappy first psychiatrist keeping me on meds for years basically corrupted my prognosis. ive noticed lately i basically have felt cured in a way, repairing the psychological damage of my life experiences and learned self protective ways of thinking to the point i see why my functioning and struggles dont line up with sza. yet im now seeing more than ever other things ive been living with much longer and while i can get through that too its very surreal to see all the pieces put together.
I was diagnosed with ADHD in third grade because I was rambunctious at a private school. I don’t know if I have ADHD or if I just don’t like math. The meds that I was put on Ritalin specifically were horrible growing up.
My daughter is typically sweet and quiet. But she has adhd inattentive type. That means she’s not hyper but she’s constantly struggling to pay attention
Anyway, we tried multiple adhd drugs on her in junior high. They made her extremely aggressive. She yelled and broke plates and everything. We got her off them,
Now she just tries to do what she can to focus and practice focusing. She’s almost 26 years old now and she’s struggling to do college. She recently tried a semester but had to drop out halfway through due to multiple issues. Sucks!
I have AD(H)D as well! I’ve been on Adderall and Concerta in the past, but I’ve always found that stimulant medicine makes me aggressive. My new psychiatrist is planning to put me on something non stimulating that also treats the attention deficit, I hope it works well!! If it does I may mention what they put me on if any of y’all want to look into it. L-Theanine also helps me feel more focused, but I know the effectiveness of that varies from person to person!!

I was diagnosed with ADHD when I was 30. I turn 39 next month. I was medicated to ADHD for a while but the dose was way too low for me to work. my pdoc is too scared to put me on a bigger dose of ADHD medication, because I have schizpohrenia and I’m on two APs. I have tried atomoxetin but it did not work for me.
