A post about dogs in other countries being stolen and sold to be butchered. They have pictures of dogs in bags with their mouths fastened shut.
A dog with a seizure disorder that I’m supposed to help somehow. THey show very disturbing videos of this poor dog having an attack.
A picture of a lab named “tank” who they say no one has visited in 6 months and apparently stopped wagging his tail 3 weeks ago. They say he is scheduled for Euthanasia Friday.
A big wtf. I swear Facebooks goal is to disturb the hell out of me. What am I supposed to do? Become a miracle healer and fix a dog with seizures? Travel to a different country and form a vigilante squad of some kind to combat dog kidnapping? Adopt every dog on the planet to help poor “tank”?
They dont even ask for money. THey just want to point out to me that ■■■■ thats going to disturb me is going on.
Why the hell do I even look on that platform…its like a sick habit. I go into to check my messages and just HAVE to scroll down a few to see what sick and disturbing crap they have on the feed.
I mean seriously, somehow the platform figures out I like dogs and decides to show me a bunch of posts with dogs suffering. Apparently these are the brilliant decisions that Facebook makes.
The only reason I stay is because I am connected to a few people on messenger. Thats it.
Facebook didnt used to be anywhere near this bad 10 years or more ago.
Apparently their goal was to get everyone on there when it was decent and then turn it into something no one wants anymore and only stay on because they are afraid of losing contact with people.
If i remember correctly facebook figured out that a few years back that negative posts and politically divisive posts drives up engagement. More engagement is more ads, more income. Don’t forget they have departments of psychologists, marketing specialists and what not to research this. I’ve also seen youtube decline a lot over the last few years. I never used facebook much.
Well, they may have researched and quantified all this, but they haven’t taken into account the disgust factor. I would delete my profile in a minute if it wasnt for messenger.
And I have to believe there are a significant amount of others who would do the same.
This is basically what they do, calculate how much income they can get off you without pissing too much people off that they leave the platform. This is same as with twitter/X, lot of people wanted to switch but not a lot of people did. The theory behind is is called the ‘collective action problem’, the more users there are on the platform the harder it is to switch.
I remember facebook doing similar things to me. Tailored Ads were popping up that facebook must have picked up from communicating with google and other websites.
It’s kind of disturbing that there is a lot of effort from marketing experts to use every angle and trick in the book to touch on each individulals buttons.
