deleting of threads or just locked
I think it happens when people get paranoid and delete their message

The old forum had a library of all the posts and threads as the package it was on could keep the data.
This site is maintained in such a way that a large number of posts are deleted permanently.
Searching for an old post which i remembered posting abourt a certain subject but not remembering the details i searched for it, but alas it was gone.
It keeps the subscription hosting package cheaper apparently.

Thats really not true. 95% of threads are intact. Probably 90%or more of posts are intact. Uploads are deleted and threads with the first post as an upload are deleted in order to get to the file. The only threads that are completely deleted are old threads with the first post as a upload(picture file usually).
All text posts and text threads are intact.
THis part is true. If we were get past our file upload limit(right now we are little over 20%) we would need to upgrade in order to be able to upload any files at all.

As I have posted about this topic about a zillion times. If you want whatever you are posting to remain forever, dont include an upload.
I used to delete all files by date of last reply in all categories, so it was usually considerable time (because I was getting behind) before they were deleted.
Since @sweetpotatopie came on as admin, we have been doing it by category with 30 days or longer with no reply. The lounge category is the safest for having picture files last the longest because it is posted on so frequently and we are so behind, that it takes awhile to load up the history and we tend to avoid(at least i do) these days because it takes so long to try to catch up.
Edit: at least as far as I know thats the way its being done. Unless @sweetpotatopie has changed her methods. I’ll let her speak for herself, I guess.

anyway, since she is not around atm, this is something we will discuss further amongst staff.
The only threads getting perma deleted are old locked threads longer than 30 days that start with an upload. All other threads are archived. If there is a thread you want unlocked shoot us a message and we will unlock.
