I have received a couple messages and questions about closed threads

For anyone that has missed my comments about this before, I want to reiterate the reasons why old threads are closed.

I routinely am, for site maintenance, deleting file uploads from threads around 7 days or more with no replies . This is a preventative measure to make sure we never run out of storage space.

I close the threads to help me keep track of which threads I have cleaned of uploads.

The text will remain intact so we can look back on our history here.

No one is being punished or targeted.

If you would like any thread I lock reopened , we can do so and bump it back up to the top.

Feel free to pm me any requests to do so.

Thanks

I also should add, that if you find an old thread missing from the history, the most likely explanation is that the first post contained uploads. Its not possible to clear the uploads on the first post without getting rid of the entire thread.

If you want a thread like this to remain there are 4 ways.

  1. dont post uploads in the first post
  2. PM me with a request to leave the thread active
  3. bump up thread
  4. Update your thread so it stays active

I know some of these posts are tedious and repeat themselves, but I want to make sure that no one feels like they are being punished or targeted. It’s only to save us money so we dont have to continually upgrade our storage space.

Until such time as our mysterious benefactor appears and gives us unlimited funds for hosting, this is likely what we will have to do to keep our costs down

When I post images, I can post them from my Flickr account to save space if that is easier for you. They reside on a server that doesn’t hit your file storage limits.

Workable?
